From @SJPatUChicago:
Yesterday, our community SHOWED UP late at night to defend against a possible cop raid. We thank everyone who came out. People power is the ONLY reason why we're still here on day 8, having repelled zionist hate marches & stood strong against threats from admin and police.
As we gathered, the IOF ordered evacuation in Rafah, escalating their genocide. This after a night where 22 Palestinians were murdered by UChicago-funded bombs. We affirmed that our eyes & hearts are with Rafah and that we must do more to end Israeli genocide & colonialism.

Protesters continue to square off with police near the grotesque cesspool of American βcultureβ that is the Met Gala. At least a dozen violent arrests have reportedly been made by SRG, the famously brutal anti-riot police. While the the NYPD mobilizes in defense of celebrity excess and US media fawns over these symbols of a rotting society, Israelβs bombs reign down mercilessly on Rafah.

The zionist invasion of Rafah has begun. Rafah, a refuge for more than 1 million displaced Palestinians, a maze of tents teeming with life β was subjected to brutal bombardment today as the IOFβs death tanks edge closer to the cityβs densely populated areas.
To announce their invasion, the zionists littered Rafah with thousands of leaflets cynically demanding that refugees evacuateβbut there is nowhere to go except the highways of death and hunger leading north or the shuttered Egyptian border to the south. Despite reports that Hamas is willing to accept a ceasefire deal, the zionist entity presses forward with its blood-soaked plot. Make no mistake: in their eyes, this is the final solution to the Palestine question. The zionist entity aims to wipe Gaza off the face of the earth.
We send our solidarity to the brave comrades in Palestine resisting this latest chapter of zionist aggression.
Here, nothing will suffice but escalation. Who are we to sit back and quibble while our Palestinian brothers and sisters resist slaughter? Palestinians in Gaza call for strikes, disruptions, blockades and action. By any means necessary is not a slogan. Our movement, reignited on campuses across the world, must spread to the streets. Even as the state continues to crack down on our protest, making dozens of fresh arrests in California and New York City in the past 24 hours, we are not cowed. State violence only demonstrates the just nature of our cause.
To put forth anything less than our maximum energy and effort is to abandon Palestine. Our responsibility is to follow in the footsteps of our comrades on the ground, and remain steadfast. Gaza will be free. Palestine will be free. The American empire and its satellite compradors will fall.
With grief in our hearts and grim determination in our minds, we say: onwards!

βΌοΈ EMERGENCY MARCH FOR RAFAH AT NOON βΌοΈ
In solidarity with the Palestinian people, we will be meeting at the Liberated Zone today at noon before marching down Kirkwood. We encourage everyone to bring noise-makers with them (pots/pans/etc). We need the world to know what is happening in Rafah. No justice, no peace. We hope to see you there.
