Last night at UCLA, our brave comrades resisted the engine of the zionist movement: state-aided settler violence. Days after a rally featuring the ADL’s own Jonathan Greenblatt, a herd of zionists bearing mace, fireworks, and two-by-fours descended on the Gaza Solidarity Encampment at Royce Hall. Dozens of students and community members were seriously injured and taken to the hospital, while cowardly zionists ambushed and brutalized journalists under the cover of darkness. 

Steadfast students and community members fought off the attacks. State-sanctioned settler violence has constructed and sustained the blood-soaked zionist project for 76 years, and last night, once again, we saw its logic extend to the American university. Similarly to how the IOF encourages zionist settlers to raid Palestinian villages, the IOF-trained police stood aside and applauded the zionist mob as they attacked the UCLA encampment. 

The corporate press reported “clashes” and both-sided the violence which was demonstrably instigated by zionists. LAPD is preparing to raid UCLA as we send this dispatch, punishing the encampment for resisting zionist violence. Hundreds of students, faculty, and allies stand shoulder to shoulder, preparing to defend the encampment.

In its attempts to crush the irrepressible anti-imperialist movement, the fascist university cannot help but deploy the tactics of the zionist entity. The mirror images confirm that the police and their deputized settlers are the internal arm of empire, mobilized to crush movements which threaten the foundations of the colonial world order. Our movement’s abolitionist orientation is not tangential but essential. We will not wait until the cop cities reach our doorstep. 

We reject the state’s attempt to demobilize us. We know our cause is just, and we know that it is only a matter of time until Palestine is free.

A lot will change from this May Day to the next one. Until then, ESCALATE! STRIKE! FIGHT FOR GAZA!

A message from a lawyer who's observing both CCNY and Columbia trial cases: "I want to note that the fates of Columbia arrestees last night was very different than what the CCNY folks are facing. At least 20 are still held and facing felony burglary charges. The prosecutor’s office says this is because CCNY has been slow to provide footage, but certainly there’s a lot more at play here. While Columbia fielded a surgical (and brutal) repression by specialized nypd units, CCNY got the thuggish treatment of SRG units and the mess and sheer brutality of these clashes is now bearing on their treatment in court. I urge those of you able to lend them presence and support in court today. Many were really hurt and are still in holding." Come either to 100 centre street, inside courthouse, or 1 Police Plaza.

This morning we received a letter from UofT administration stating we are not allowed to protest after 10 PM, creating a pretext for potentially shutting down the encampment. We fully reject the administration’s attempt to deny us our constitutional right to peaceful assembly. UofT would rather threaten involving law enforcement than address our calls for divestment from companies funding an active genocide—a stance that reveals the colonial core of its character. Administration says we are protesting on private property, a claim we reject entirely. We are protesting on stolen land.
