Students occupiers at Cal Poly Humboldt opened up "Intifada Hall" (previously "Seimens Hall") to the public after a week-long occupation, coming an hour after they rejected negotiations with the administration (Media 2).
The students refused to compromise or give into the administration's threats that they should leave by 5PM yesterday. Expecting a heightened police response, the students carried out riot shield training before opening up the building (Media 9).
The occupation continues, and the campus is closed for the remainder of the semester. Only a few students were arrested, but a number have received suspensions.
It should be noted that 50% of Cal Poly Humboldt students are considered "low income," with about 20% of its students living from inside their cars and a third of them being first generation students.
Inside Intifada Hall, President Tom Jackson's office has been redecorated. Messages of solidarity with Gaza, Yemen, and the oppressed of the world decorate the inside and outside of the building.
"I will no longer be complicit in genocide," a quote by Aaron Bushnell, is written inside.
"We are not scared of you. You can make us bloody, but we will bash back. Because we are many. We are more than you. We are everywhere.
From Goudi'ni to Weelaunee to Palestine - Fuck IDF, APD, all state puppetry. End genocide everywhere."

The police are encroaching on us, taking advantage of the New Haven situation. They are looking to escalate on PEACEFUL demonstrations (chalking, sitting, talking, studying) for pretext to violently disrupt and dismantle camp. ALL HANDS ON DECK, WE NEED EVERYONE PHYSICALLY ABLE TO COME NOW! We will not stop, we will not rest! Gaza comes first, the police will not silence Palestinian voices! π΅πΈπ΅πΈπ΅πΈ

KRFH has reported from a trusted source that the university is mobilizing 200 police tomorrow night to break the Gaza solidarity occupation. The police can't break our love for one another.
We won't let them.

STRIKE! BARRICADE! STRIKE!
The American university is a moral failure. These rotting institutions have directly facilitated the wholesale destruction of Gazaβs educational infrastructure by financing the very same bombs that decimated them. If there is no functioning university in Gaza, there cannot be a functioning university anywhere.
We have seen a massive groundswell of popular support for the student movement. But support is not enough. Solidarity with encampments means solidarity with Gaza.
As Bisan said in her video today, this movement is not for students only.
A professor at USC announced last night that she was canceling the final assignment for her class. In an email to her students, which she also shared on X, Prof. Sarah Rebecca Kessler wrote: βHow are we supposed to engage in normal finals-week behaviour while our university administration is criminalizing its students for β¦ opposing war and mass death and protesting its draconian policies? How are you supposed to take exams with LAPD helicopters loudly circling overhead?β
Other facultyβat CUNY, NYU, and Northwesternβhave put their bodies on the line, acting as a line of defense for encampments. UT Austin faculty stopped working for 24 hours. This was the first faculty strike since the encampments began. It cannot be the last.
Students in solidarity with Gaza have risked everything from arrest to eviction to expulsion. Teachers, what will you do?
There is only one answer: STRIKE!
We heed the call from trade unions in Palestine who remind us that βdecent employment should never come at the expense of countless Palestinian lives. [β¦] An injury to one is truly an injury to all.β Professors, faculty, staff, and graduate students: you must join the struggle. Demand divestment by withholding your labor. NO class, NO grades, NO finals. Suspend the semester. Cancel commencement. STRIKE!
