It is 5 AM at the Gaza Solidarity Encampment at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, and over a dozen state and city police vehicles and police with riot gear have showed up in preparation to attempt to dismantle the encampment which began four days ago.

Student occupiers have been preparing for an anticipated raid since last night. Trucks were observed, and a raid is expected soon. As the sun begins to rise, the students have broken out into pro-Palestinian chants.

Students are livestreaming the developing events here.

GOOD MORNING. We held it down for another cold cold night. But we are fine and we are safe- unlike our siblings in Gaza who are facing Israel’s US-backed genocide and eight decades of colonial occupation. We hold it down for them. We won’t rest until UConn divests and refuses complicity in Israel’s slaughter. For now, campers, drink some water, eat some food, and review our camp norms and safety guidelines above. We stay smart, focused, and determined in the fight for a free Palestine, from the river to the sea.

“In defending himself against charges of disloyalty under the Espionage Act for giving an anti-war speech, Debs says ‘While there is a lower class, I am in it, and while there is a criminal element I am of it, and while there is a soul in prison, I am not free.’ Here, Debs espouses the fundamental principle of solidarity, that an injury to one is an injury to all — and that when people are hurting, it becomes a moral imperative for us all to contribute what we can to their liberation.”

📍 CAL POLY - HUMBOLDT

Cal Poly Humboldt redecorated President Tom Jackson's office as part of the liberated zone. Despite threats from federal and state authorities, students at Cal Poly aren't backing down, continuing to defend their encampment. They occupied a second building after renaming Seimens Hall "Intifada Hall." Classes are canceled or online for the rest of the semester. Barricades built all around.

📍Cornell

A statement from Momodou Taal, one of the three students suspended from Cornell for participating in the encampment there:

Myself and 3 other students were informed today that we are temporarily suspended. Cornell deliberately targeted students in precarious positions such as visa status and those who live on campus which means their housing and access to fund is now at jeopardy. This means now that we are no longer permitted on campus. This decision comes after one day of an encampment in which students, grad workers and faculty have decided that we refuse to remain silent and cower in fear whilst our school remains complicit in Israel’s genocidal campaign against the Palestinians.

Cornell’s administration has refused to even meet to discuss the demands presented by the students and have decided to retroactively apply temporary suspensions as a means of leverage against the students in the hope that the encampment is brought to an end. This shameful move comes at a time where fellow students have constantly harassed and called the police on us as a means of intimidating students who are pro-Palestinian.

Now, I understand people want to make this about freedom of speech or about individuals, but I want to recommit myself to Palestinian liberation and refuse any attempt from Cornell’s administration to distract from the genocide in Gaza. Their attempts at silencing us comes from a position of weakness. Their repression only generates more resistance. These actions will only bring us nearer to a free Palestine. From the river to sea, Palestine will be free.

Mumia-abu Jamal calls into CUNY encampment last night from prison:
"Do not let go of this moment. Make it bigger, make it more massive, make more powerful. Make it echo up into the stars."

"Do not bow to those who want you to be silent. It is time, right now, this day, this month, this moment, to be heard. And shake the earth so that the people of Gaza, the people of Rafah, the people of the West Bank, the people of Palestine, can feel your solidarity with them."
