Pi Node Version 0.5.0 has been released, a major update preparing Nodes for the Mainnet blockchain. This update transitions Nodes to the Testnet2 blockchain, simulating the Mainnet environment and testing the switch between Testnet and Mainnet blockchains. The original Testnet will remain active for now but will soon close for Node use. Original Testnet will continue functioning as normal for Pioneers and Pi app developers.

The first Grace Period deadline to submit the KYC application is now extended to December 31, 2024, making it the same as the second deadline to migrate. The final Grace Period deadline has not changed and is still December 31, 2024. This extension ensures all Pioneers have ample opportunity to secure their Pi while maintaining the overall timeframe of 6-month Grace Period unchanged. Submit your KYC application and complete your Mainnet Checklist by December 31, 2024, to avoid any forfeiture. Take action now—don’t wait!

Recent Pi KYC improvements unblocked a large scale number of Pioneers to submit their KYC or proceed in their KYC process. Go to the Pi mining app to read these updates that include enabling over 1 million people to apply, resubmissions for some rejected applications, resolving tentative KYC status, and other fixes for blocked submissions. Upcoming enhancements will address name mismatches, provide scalable tentative status resolution and further streamline the process.

This means Open Network can launch as soon as possible in Q1 2025 while reducing the gap between KYC’ed and Mainnet migrated Pioneers for inclusivity and ecosystem stability at Open Network.

As part of preparing for Open Network in Q1 2025, Pi Network made Mainnet Pi apps accessible through the Ecosystem Interface on the Pi Browser. An initial 20 Pi apps are included, with more apps to come in the future. Pioneers can explore these Mainnet Pi apps, but exercise caution and use them at your own risk because they are not developed or endorsed by Pi Network.
