Scotland and the rest of the UK are facing a year of Industrial unrest and possible major strike, action according to Unison, the unions' new leader.
The cost of Iiving is getting increasingly difficult for many people to manage. Even those in work are now starting to fall into working poverty, struggling to afford even the basic necessities of life.
The recent salary increases, if you are lucky to get one at all, have failed to keep up with inflation.
The hard-pressed workers of our country, who have had COVID to deal with along with rising inflation, deserve better than this.
We are seeing major corporations continuing to make massive profits, and politicians, council leaders and CEOs awarded raises that outstrip anything a worker could hope for.
It is time that the workers of this nation were given a fairer deal and effective measures were taken to curb inflation. At present, neither the Westminster nor Holyrood governments seem capable or have the will to do these. Time for change.

More hypocrisy from the SNP/Green alliance. They have spent the week since P&O sacked hundreds of workers attacking the firm and its use of tax havens.
Meanwhile it has emerged that the state-controlled CalMac Ferries that runs lifeline serviced to Scotland's islands has been using similar tactics to P&O to avoid paying National Insurance for hundreds of workers.
CalMac employs its workers through a Guernsey company, allowing them to avoid an estimated Β£3 million bill each year as the offshore company doesn't need to pay NI contributions.
It is not an acceptable situation for a state-controlled entity to use these tactics and the SNP government should be taken to task for allowing this situation to continue while they have been in power.
The SNP/Greens are aware of the situation but have taken no action, while also having the bare-faced cheek to attack others for using the same despicable tactics that they are. The SNP/Greens have shown, yet again, that they are not to be trusted.

On this day in 1943 the HMS Dasher disaster happened off the coast of the Isle of Arran.
HMS Dasher (D37) was a British Royal Navy aircraft carrier, of the Avenger class.
She escorted one convoy successfully, but shortly after leaving with the second, Dasher suffered engine trouble and turned back. Shortly after getting to the Firth of Clyde , she suffered a major internal explosion and sank.
Various possible causes have been suggested, including one of her aircraft crashing onto the flight deck and igniting petrol fumes from leaking tanks. Much of what happened remains unknown. The death toll, 379 out of 528 crewmen, despite rapid response and assistance from ships and rescue craft from Brodick and Lamlash on the Isle of Arran and from Ardrossan and Greenock on the Scottish mainland, was amongst the highest in British home waters. Many escaped from the ship but died of hypothermia or of burns suffered when escaped fuel ignited on the water. Most of the dead were buried at Ardrossan or Greenock.

Alex Salmond has announced that Alba, the party he founded, is to field 100 candidates in the coming local council elections.
Some may welcome this as a new party to take on the failing establishment parties in Scotland. This is of course not the case, with nearly everyone involved in Alba being part of the same tired old establishment parties that have been failing the people of Scotland since the Holyrood Parliament was set up.
What this country needs is a brand new alternative full of people who are not part of the mainstream political system and who have many new ideas. An alternative full of energy and that has no connection to the old cronyism that exists in Scotland and the UK as a whole.
Scotland needs change. Scotland needs real Nationalists, not the fake nationalists of the SNP and Alba. Scotland needs an alternative that will put the indigenous population first. Scotland needs a true Patriotic Alternative.

On this day in 1960 the cheapside whisky bond disaster happened in Glasgow. It was the worst peacetime fire service disaster. The fire killed 14 firemen and 5 salvage Corp personnel.
The Glasgow Fire Service was initially alerted by a 999 call at 7:15 pm
The first fire crews arrived at 7:21 pm and after a quick reconnaissance three more pumps were requested to attend. Crews were informed by civilians that smoke and flame had been seen on the Warroch Street side of the building and additional crews and equipment were sent to investigate.
an explosion occurred that burst the front and rear walls of the building outwards causing large quantities of masonry to collapse into the street. This collapse instantly killed three firemen in Cheapside Street as well as 11 firemen and five salvagemen who were battling the blaze from the rear of the building in Warroch Street.
The fire took a week to extinguish. The recovery of the bodies in Warroch Street was not completed umtil the 31 March.

15 years ago the SNP made a commitment to reform the council tax system, a system that is seen by many including their Green partners as not fit for purpose.
So it seems the SNP have yet again lied to the people of Scotland and are breaking promises that could have potentially helped some of the worst-off people in our nation.
The SNP have also ruled out any changes to income tax and other taxes over which they have influence, so this term in office will see no adjustments to tax at a time when the people of Scotland are struggling.
The SNP have left a string of broken promises and bad policies behind them but people still vote for them. Why? The people of Scotland need to wake up and embrace political change. Throw the SNP out at the next elections if you want a better Scotland and more honest government.

PA London and Southeast activists visited Stade Court Hotel in Hythe, Kent this afternoon, Monday 18th March 2022.
Stade Court Hotel is one of many hotels harbouring illegal migrants in the UK, paid for by the Westminster government out of the taxes paid by us, the ordinary hard working British people.
Following Steve Laws' report on the attempted abduction of a white child by three of the residents
https://stevelawsreport.co.uk/attempted-abduction-hythe/
We visited Hythe to send a clear message:
WHITE CHILDREN ARE NOT FAIR GAME
Whilst in the area, we interviewed a member of Kent constabulary, who confirmed there is an on-going investigation into the attempted abduction. There was a heightened level of security around the hotel and we were shadowed by security guards.
This highlights just another way our White children are parasitised by a system which no longer represents us, the indigenous peoples of these lands.

On this day in 1958 Sir William Burrel died at his home Hutton Castle in the Scottish Borders.
Burrel was a wealthy ship owner who had a great interest in art and acquired a large eclectic collection over the years. In 1944 it contained 6000 items but he carried on collecting and amassed 9000 items in total.
In 1944 Burrell donated his collection to the city of Glasgow. At the time of his gift to Glasgow the collection was valued at well in excess of Β£1 million, and it came with an additional Β£450,000 in cash to build a dedicated museum for it. This was a major act of philanthropy. Burrell simply wanted people to gain as much pleasure from art as he had, and to improve their lives through a better understanding and appreciation of beauty.
it was not until the city of Glasgow acquired Pollok Country Park in 1967 that a museum in the spirit of his wishes could be built. A custom-built museum, the Burrell Collection, was finally opened in 1983. The building reopens today after a major refurbishment.

On this day in 1296 the Sack of Berwick Upon Tweed occurred. It was the first significant battle of the first Scottish war of independence.
Edward I treated Scotland as a feudal vassal state, claiming contributions towards the cost of the defence of England. When he demanded military support for his war against France, the Scots responded by forming an alliance with the French, and launched an unsuccessful attack on Carlisle.
On 28 March (the Wednesday in Easter Week), Edward passed the river Tweed with his troops and stayed that night in Scotland at the priory of Coldstream. From there he marched on the town of Berwick.
Berwick was a Royal burgh just north of the border, and was Scotland's most important trading port, second only to London in economic importance in medieval Britain at that point. Berwick is referenced to be called "Alexandria of the North". Edward captured the town and massacred the citizens. The numbers slain range from 4,000 to 17,000 according to various accounts.

The SNP are responsible for the death of or serious harm to as many as 30 people in one week due to their incompetence in running the NHS.
That is the number of people that clinicians estimate will have either died or been seriously harmed due to increasing A&E delays. In the last week over 1,000 people had a wait of 12 hours or more, and one in ten had a wait of 8 hours or more.
Ever since the SNP took control of NHS Scotland it has been in decline due to their mismanagement of the service. They are not capable of managing any of the public services in our nation.
How any more people have to die before people wake up and realise the SNP are failing them and remove them from power?

A 119-page report called the 'Glasgow Slavery Audit' has identified at least eight statues in the city that are claimed to have links to slavery.
One of the most ridiculous claims is about the statue of David Livingstone, a man who spoke out slavery, calling it the "greatest meaness ever perpetrated". The claim is that Livingstone was linked to slavery due to his 'defence' of cotton masters, having worked in a cotton mill from age 10 which had 'likely' used West Indian cotton.
Other figures named in the report include Colin Campbell, William Gladstone, John Moore, James Oswald and Robert Peel Jr. Buildings on the list include Pollok House, Aikenhead House, Haggs Castle, Linn House and Glasgow Academy.
The Council will now have to decide what action it will take. Will we see the history of our city ripped apart to please a small group of virtue signalling justice warriors? The people of Glasgow need to oppose any attempts to tear down statues or rename streets.

Gowk day is the Scottish equivalent of April fools day Gowk is also the word for cuckoo.
Gowk is Scots for cuckoo but is also became the word for a fool. If you were called a huntegowk, then the joke was on you on April 1.
The Gowk Day custom derives in part from young people being led from wood to wood to track the newly arrived Spring cuckoos, with the βhunt the gowkβ always staged too early for the birds to be found.
Typical Gowk Day pranks evolved from these foolβs errands.
The traditional prank was to ask someone to deliver a sealed message requesting help of some sort.
When the note was opened on delivery, the nature of the errand was revealed. βDinna laugh, dinna smile, hunt the gowk another mile,β was the message.
It is believed Gowkβs Day was marked in Scotland from at least 1700, according to accounts.
In the Western Isles, gowk cakes, made from milk, eggs and fruit, were eaten on April 1

ScotRail has today gone back into public ownership with the franchise now being run by an arms-length company owned by the Scottish Government.
Nationalising the service should hopefully bring better services after years of service failures by Abellio. The ownership by a Scottish entity must be more desirable than the previous ownership, which was a company owned by the Dutch national railways and would have seem profits flowing back to The Netherlands.
Though nationalisation is a positive step you have to be wary as the Scottish Government has a horrendous record in running other public services such as CalMac Ferries, the NHS, etc.
The Scottish Government needs to address the massive fares rises that commuters have seen over the last few years, and the drop in services. The rail sector has always been one that has seen much industrial unrest. The SNP will struggle to deal with this but must make sure any deals benefit the rail user. They also need to work with Network Rail to expand the rail network.
