On this day in 1318, Edward Bruce, Earl of Carrick, the younger brother of Robert the Bruce, was killed at the Battle of Faughart in Ireland.

He supported his brother in the 1306-1314 struggle for the Scottish crown, then pursued his own claims in Ireland. Proclaimed High King of Ireland in 1315 and crowned in 1316, he was eventually defeated and killed by Anglo-Irish forces of the Lordship of Ireland at the Battle of Faughart in County Louth.

Edward was one of five sons of Robert de Brus and Marjorie, Countess of Carrick, but the order is uncertain. Robert the Bruce was the eldest; in the past there was some dispute over whether Edward was second, or third behind Nigel, but one recent account has him fourth behind Nigel and Alexander. His date of birth is unknown, but it was probably not very long after Robert was born in 1274; he was old enough to be fighting in 1307 and to be given an independent command not long after.
On this day in 1586, Mary Queen of Scots went on trial at Fotheringhay Castle in England. She was accused of being involved in what was know as the Babington Plot. The plot was named after Anthony Babington, one of the main conspirators. Its plan was to assainate Queen Elizabeth and replace her with Mary. The long term goal was the invasion of England by Philip of Spain and the Catholic league to restore Catholicism in England.

Mary was convicted on 25 October and sentenced to death. At Fotheringhay, on the evening of 7 February 1587, Mary was told she was to be executed the next morning. She spent the last hours of her life in prayer, distributing her belongings to her household, and writing her will and a letter to the King of France. The scaffold that was erected in the Great Hall was draped in black cloth. It was reached by two or three steps, and furnished with the block and a cushion for her to kneel on.
Though not a fan of SNP MSP John Mason generally, we would disagree with these attacks on him for attending a anti-abortion vigil at the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Glasgow.

The SNP and other politicians are always banging on about how the people should have the right to peaceful protest. Yet they attack Mason and others for doing just that. They are also seek to ban protests anywhere near hospitals or abortion clinics. These protests are peaceful.

In Scotland, there is a gross hypocrisy over "free speech" and the "right to protest". If you are on board with the woke agenda you are free to do what you want. But mention abortion or race or anything anti-LGBT and you are hounded and every obstacle is put in your way to stop you freely expressing your views.

Abortion is if course an emotive subject and complicated. But in 2020 alone we saw over 18,000 abortions take place in Scotland. That is not good for any nation.
Halloween has sadly become very Americanised but we have our own traditions.

Neep or Tumshie Lanterns

Children these days are more used to using pumpkins to make lanterns for Halloween.

But older generations of Scots will remember the sore arms (and smell) from using a neep or tumshie (turnip) to make them.

The practice of creating lanterns stems from the use of fire to scare off evil spirits.

Dooking for apples

A sacred fruit at this time of year, apples were often revered, and being plentiful in Scotland, led to games such as Dookin' (Ducking) where a dozen or so are placed in a barrel of water with people challenged to remove one using only their mouths.

Nowadays, to save a wet face (or messed up face paint) a fork is dropped from the mouth to try and stick it in one of the floating apples.

You can read about other Scottish Halloween traditions in this article:

Protesters are blocking the major motorways of Glasgow to protest the COP26 Conference on climate change.

These embarrassing protests have only resulted in the protesters being dragged away by police and shouted at by busy motorists. There is mass discontent within our people, we are dissatisfied with the status quo and concerned for the future of our communities.

However, these climate change groups only offer the Scottish people is a sit down on a motorway and a criminal record.

Our people deserve better. We need a Patriotic Alternative.

There is much derision at the mention of white replacement..Many call those who speak of the theory cranks, tin foil hat men or delusional .

But the numbers speak for themselves 29.3% of live Births in the UK to Mothers from outside the UK.. Couple this with the declining pregnancy rate amongst white British women, the increasing abortion rate amongst white women and the constantly growing numbers of non whites arriving in this country both legally and illegally and it doesnt take a genius to imagine what the future could look like.

But we should not be downhearted. We are building a strong Nationalist network in this country led by the Patriotic Alternative. We are seeing increasing numbers of people waking up , rejecting the clown world and joining up to the Nationalist cause.

Our young Nationalists are becoming increasingly active in fitness, bettering the lives of themselves and their families and returning to traditional ways. This is just the start ,so we have many reasons to be optomistic .

On this day in 1430, James the 2nd was born at Holyrood Abbey. He ruled from 1437 till 1460 and was buried at Holyrood Abbey. He was the son of King James I and Joan Beaufort. He was crowned in Holyrood Abbey by Abbot Patrick on 23 March 1437, after the assasination of his father.

On 3 July 1449 the eighteen-year-old James married the fifteen-year-old Mary of Guelders, daughter of the Arnold, Duke of Guelders, at Holyrood Abbey. She bore him seven children, six of whom survived into adulthood.

James was a politic and singularly successful king. He was popular with the commoners, with whom, like most of the Stewarts, he socialised often, in times of peace and war. The foundation of the University of Glasgow during his reign, by Bishop Turnbull, shows that he encouraged learning; and there are also traces of his endowments to St. Salvator's, the new college of Archbishop Kennedy at St Andrews. He possessed much of his father's restless energy.
Four deaths are being investigated at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, including the death of a 73 year old woman.

Hospitals are a place of support and recovery. We should be able to place our trust in the NHS. However, the SNP fail at providing an adequate healthcare for our people.

Hospitals are the last place criminal activities should be taking place. We demand better.

The Sun have just contacted Patriotic Alternative to let us know they're writing an article about us. The topic of the article is the activism that PA Scotland have been doing in relation to Covid-19, in particular us delivering leaflets in opposition to vaccine passports.

Here is the statement we sent them. Let's see what they publish...
Today our West of Scotland Branch were out around Renfrew and distributed over 500 leaflets.

PA Scotland are closing in on 1500 subscribers on our Telegram channel, which is focused on news and events from our area. As we post this we are at 1498.

Other PA regions are similarly focusing predominantly on their areas and starting to grow their support. This means their channel posts will be different from those on our channel. Additional many of the posts are not shared on the main PA channel.

We thoroughly recommend giving a sub to our nationalist comrades across the country. Help their channels grow and get news and views from our community you might otherwise miss. Let's build the PA family together.

On this day in 1346 the battle of Nevilles Cross took place half a mile west of Durham . The battle was part of the Second Scottish war of Independence.

A Scots army under King David 11 clashed with an English army commanded by Ralph Neville, Lord Neville. The Scots army was defeated and suffered heavy losses. The battle was named after the Anglo Saxon cross on the hilltop where the Scottish army made its last stand. After the Battle Lord Neville paid for a new cross to be erected to mark the English victory

King David was captured during the Battle and spent 11 years in captivity before released in exchange for a ransom of 100,000 marks (approximately £62,000,000 in 2021 terms.) The ransom was to be paid over ten years, on 24 June (St. John the Baptist's Day) each year, during which an Anglo-Scottish truce prohibited any Scottish citizen from bearing arms against Edward III or any of his men. This truce lasted for four decades and marked the end of the Second War of Scottish Independence.
Woke stupidity continues to grow within the Scottish arts scene. The National theatre of Scotland has banned the use of the word "spooky" in case it offends anyone. No one has been offended but the NTS says that if one person is potentially offended it is one too many. What type of country do we live in where people can be hurt by words so much we need to censor them. We may as well do away with language if this trend continues , as many words can potentially be deemed to be offensive by someone somewhere.

The word spook is a Dutch word meaning Ghost. Hence its connectuon to halloween and all things well "spooky". It has been in use in the UK since at least the 19th century with no racial connotations. It seems it was an obscure term used by some Americans during the war to describe Black servicemen. Hence the claims of it being racist.

The NTS was decided that it is too white, a terrible crime it seems in a majority White country and is determined to force "diversity " into all areas of its work.
MSP's will now be given police security after the murder of MP Sir David Amess.

If these MSP's had not fought so hard to import millions of criminal migrants, there would be no need for this desperate attempt at safety.

The Scottish people have been murdered and raped by these migrants, yet the politicians create a layer of defence around themselves.

They are truly scum. We need a Patriotic Alternative.
