El 24 de julio de 1936 halla la muerte en la localidad segoviana de Labajos el dirigente falangista Onรฉsimo Redondo Ortega, fundador de las JONS (Juntas de Ofensiva Nacional-Sindicalista) y una de las figuras doctrinalmente mรกs influyentes del pensamiento nacional en la Espaรฑa rural y castellana.
Apenas unos dรญas despuรฉs de haber sido liberado de la prisiรณn de รvila tras el triunfo del Alzamiento, Redondo se dirigรญa en automรณvil hacia el frente de la Sierra de Guadarrama para inspeccionar las posiciones de las centurias de falangistas castellanos. Al entrar por error en el pueblo de Labajos, tomado confusamente por una partida de milicianos anarquistas, su vehรญculo fue tiroteado a corta distancia. Tras responder con su arma corta en un combate desigual, cayรณ abatido en el acto.
Su muerte causรณ un profundo impacto en la retaguardia nacional, elevando su figura a la categorรญa de sรญmbolo y mito del sindicalismo nacional y de la juventud combatiente.
