A second bus load of young single male asylum seekers has arrived at the former ESB office block on East Wall Rd.

A local in East Wall gives a quick tour of the former ESB office which is being repurposed to house asylum seekers. Partitions can be seen being constructed.

"All brand new beds. Look what we're building for a load of Somalis. We're building little dorms for them. Can't believe the government is after doing this. Not even the Irish people are getting this. It's all Somalis coming over. Fucking scandalous."

Around 400 people have so far gathered outside the former ESB office in East Wall to protest the decision by Roderic O'Gorman to house young single male asylum seekers in the building. The road is blocked.

HUGE CROWD IN EAST WALL

"We were protesting outside the Dáil, and you have People Before Profit shouting in our faces — "racist, racist, racist".

"There's two things in this world: ideology and practicality, and there is no practicality in this country. It's all theory, the whole lot of it. They want to save the universe before they save their own culture, and we're not going to put up with it...

"The UN migration pact was signed and we weren't even asked about it. They want the Irish people to lose their fighting spirit by tagging them as far-right and all this crap. It's all psychological warfare. Stand your ground!"

Malachy Steenson asks protestors to return on Monday at 5PM with twice as many people.

"Ensure that you bring not just yourselves, but your wives, your husbands, your children, your neighbours and everybody else. This meeting was called at very short notice and a massive crowd has turned out. We want twice that crowd on Monday evening."

Because a pampered state-funded hall monitor for neoliberalism and open borders is who really reflects the interests of the community in East Wall.

More migrants arrive mere minutes after the East Wall Protest ended, 19th November, Dublin.

"GET THEM OUT!": Footage of the East Wall Road Protest from today where locals gathered to address the housing of single military age economic migrants in this area.

Mere minutes after the protest ended, more migrants arrived and exchanged heated words with the locals, before entering the building.

Speakers included solicitor Malachy Steenson and former Lord Mayor of Dublin, Niall Ring.

The next meeting is there on the 21st November at 5pm.

The ESB's former office in East Wall is earmarked to accommodate up to 380 International Protection applicants according to Green Party Cllr Janet Horner. That means they'll likely be all non-Ukrainians as Ukrainians are given Temporary Protection status unless they request otherwise and the vast majority don't.

In a statement on her website today, Cllr Horner says 80 single men have been moved in so far but women and families are expected to move in at a later date. There are five floors in the building and families will be accommodated on different floors from singles accommodation. Catering will also will be segregated so the different occupants don't mix as are the toilet and showering facilities.

The building has Wifi for the asylum seekers and security cameras are fitted throughout the public walkways.

Gateway Integration LTD have the contract with the Dept of Equality to use the building to house asylum seekers. The contract is in place for one year initially.

There will be a compliment of cleaners on site per day, 1 duty manager on site daily, a senior manager on call 24/7, and security will be on site 24 hours a day too.

An integration fund is available to assist in linkages to local communities. Applicants may avail of English language classes through the ETB.

IPAS carry out resident clinics at all new and existing accommodation locations and work with a number of NGOs who provide support to residents in the form of clinics, and in addition there is a DCEDIY funded confidential NGO run helpline to assist with any queries a resident may have.

Cllr Horner says the building has a valid fire certificate but doesn't explain how International Protection applicants can be accommodated at a non-residential property without the Dept of Equality applying for planning permission.
