Micheál Martin Supply & Demand
Late Stage Ireland
Taoiseach Micheál Martin acknowledging that the increase in Ireland's population is a "big factor" in Irish people's inability to afford homes.

He called this a supply issue, but then talked about demand, saying the new census will probably reveal a significant population growth.

But if the Irish are at sub-replacement fertility levels, what's causing the population growth Martin? 🤔

He says the State is allocating €4 Billion to provide housing per year to try meet this demand.

Sharon Keogan highlights Ireland's bloated NGO system, which, to a significant extent, is made up of publicly funded lobby groups without any involvement in charitable work.

TD Carol Nolan questioning the Minister for Housing Darragh O'Brien on whether the "government has conducted any assessment on the State's capacity to deliver housing to its own citizens in light of the enormous rise of inward immigration, international protection and asylum applications."

🔗 youtube.com

The numbers arriving she quoted as being at the rate of 1,500 every month.

International protection and asylum applications are two ways of saying the same thing so I'm not sure why she said both. Her figure of 1,500 suggests she was only talking about non-Ukrainians but she needed to clarify that. When Darragh O'Brien responded, he made it all about Ukraine and castigated her for not feeling empathy for those "fleeing war". She didn't correct him.

O'Brien has previously stated 40% of the people presenting as homeless every month are immigrants from all over the world not seeking asylum. Why not bring that up? How is that sustainable? What's he doing about it?

Why not bring up the countries of origin for all the non-Ukrainian asylum seekers in the system. The Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has acknowledged at least that Georgian and Albanians are responsible for making large numbers of spurious asylum applications yet they're still two of the top groups arriving here.

Why not bring up the fact that 95% of Nigerians arriving over the last 25 years failed their asylum applications but are seldom deported? They keep arriving.

Nolan referenced an Irish Times report which attributed the rise in non-Ukrainian asylum seekers in part to the UK's Rwanda policy according to "senior sources in Government".

This is convenient as it ignores other pull factors attracting fake refugees to Ireland:

• Minister Roderic O'Gorman's guarantee of their own home within four months of arrival regardless of the merit of their claims.

• Minister Helen McEntee's current blanket amnesty for all fake asylum seekers and in the system over two years (usually they have to wait five — bless) on top of the amnesty for illegals.

Why not bring those up?

Why not bring up the fact that there has been an increase in asylum seekers climbing off trucks in Rosslare harbour after travelling here from France. Why aren't they being sent back to France under the Dublin Agreement immediately?

Nolan made some okay points here but she padded her question with too much mush and missed an opportunity. Still worth watching:

"Hoping it would relieve my distress, I went to my doctor and said I wanted an orchiectomy — to have my testicles removed. I needed two letters from specialists to get the procedure covered by insurance. My doctor wrote one immediately. She then referred me to a psychiatrist associated with her clinic who wrote the other after a single meeting. Within a few months, I’d gotten myself castrated. But the euphoria I’d been promised didn’t materialize. Mutilating myself hadn’t made me whole — it had only made me mutilated."

Late Stage Ireland
TD Mattie McGrath was pitched against Fianna Fáil TD Paul McAuliffe on the Claire Byrne Show earlier to debate TD Carol Nolan's remarks about immigration yesterday in the Dáil.

I continue to be unimpressed. Again the conversation was framed around Ukrainians which the regime is perfectly happy to entertain as they're able to take the moral high ground. McGrath said little to move past this frame and land some blows.

64,340 PPS numbers have been handed out to non-Ukrainian immigrants since the start of this year. Immigration was a massive problem before Ukrainians arrived and it'll be a massive issue when they leave, and some of them are even leaving Ireland to go home already. They've been pushed out of hotels to make room for the increase in fake refugees from Albania, Georgia, Nigeria and Pakistan who've got no desire to ever go home, except on holiday once McEntee grants them amnesty.

McGrath will keep his vote share for making some immigration critical noises while no meaningful criticism gets made.

A vote in the Dáil to restore birth right citizenship in 2019 (which we already have in everything but law effectively).

Let's see who voted YES.

Carol Nolan.
Mattie McGrath.

No threat to the regime.

Tour of the only hotel in Fermoy which is being renovated to house 27 Ukrainians.

"I bet there's thousands of Irish people around this country who would absolutely love to have a room like that to sleep in...I'm also told the restaurant next door will be supplying all the meals...I actually know eight Irish families who would love to stay in a place like this."

The youtuber then chats to one of the painters:

"You cannot operate an open-door policy because there's so many people in trouble around the world from all sorts of things and they'll just flood the place, and that's just the reality of it....At least with the Ukrainians, they're genuine refugees."

Worth hearing the whole conversation:

>A man who pleaded guilty to possessing over €63,000 as the proceeds of crime has walked free from court with a suspended sentence.

>Iheanyichukwu Banna (35) of Beechfield Close, Clonee, Dublin admitted that the money was transferred into his bank account on July 12, 2018, but told gardaí he had 'no idea' where it came from.

>Passing sentence at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, Judge Martin Nolan said the offence could not have been carried out without Banna’s complicity and that the court could infer that he was 'up to his neck in it'.

>Judge Nolan said Banna, who is originally from Nigeria and has a partner and child, was doing well in this country and was a good worker with a good record.

The Prime Time bit on immigration earlier.

Following a report including soundbites from asylum industry lobbyist Nick Henderson, they wheeled out Minister for Climate Action Richard Bruton to face Miriam O'Callaghan as as the government must have figured neither Helen McEntee nor Roderic O'Gorman could handle it.

O'Callaghan did the usual RTÉ thing of pretending to ask difficult questions while not really doing so. She's well worth whatever salary she's on as she's a master of it.

At one point towards the end Bruton told her that ultimately only 25% of asylum seekers Ireland takes in are accepted as refugees to which Callaghan could have asked why so few are deported and why McEntee is giving them blanket amnesties but she chose instead to scold him on length of time it takes the State to give them their application decisions.

If they stopped appealing their failed applications ad infinitum, it might be quicker, Miriam...but you know that.
