How lazy OnePlus Forums Mods are to start a separate new thread about OnePlus Nord's Oxygen OS 12 Stable Rollout?

Anyways.
According to a staff member on OnePlus Forums, the Oxygen OS 12 Open Beta 3 (Build AC2001_11_F.11) is now available to Stable channel users via OTA.

If you are someone who can't wait for Oxygen OS 12 Stable on your phone, you can just install Oxygen Updater from Play Store and install the update.
But if you have enough patience, it's better to just wait and enjoy the show. 😂

Guys, also one more thing to note.
Kindly don't use Open Beta 3's Boot Image to root Stable 12.

I have checked the builds and both builds have different MD5 verification hashes, plus different sizes. So better wait for a while until I myself extract and post boot image by tomorrow afternoon. (12-13hrs from now)

I have seen a bunch of folks curious to know about OOS12, so here are some things you should keep in mind before moving to OOS12.

• Custom ROMs or Recoveries can't be directly flashed over Oxygen OS 12. Even if you do, you will end up with a message on your device saying 'The boot/recovery partition has been destroyed' and the device won't boot up.

If you want to use Custom ROMs on your Nord and are on Oxygen OS 12, you will have to DOWNGRADE first to OOS10/11 (whatever is better), UPDATE to the latest OOS11 update (to remove OOS12 from another slot) and you are good to go.

• If you want to root your phone, it's better to use Magisk Canary to patch the boot image of Oxygen OS 12. I will be releasing Stable OOS 12's boot image soon.

• The Stable OOS12 update still ISN'T rolled out to European and Global users. So it's better not to update to OOS12 until and unless OnePlus releases it specifically for you people.

• Updating using Oxygen Updater is safe. You will still get OTA updates from OnePlus (if they release it).

• Some people will get this update right away, but some users (like me) will get the update in a few days or weeks as well. This is called 'batched rollout'. Most companies follow this procedure to push updates to avoid device bricks or other major issues.

• Downgrading from OOS12 to OOS11/10 is a huge pain. For the majority of users, the downgrade package doesn't work. So you might have to use MSM Tool (available for Windows) to downgrade, which is very easy if you have set up properly and are able to put the device in EDL mode.
I made a video on this method, so you can follow it to return back to 11 or 10.

• The OnePlus Dialer, Messaging and Contacts app won't work on Oxygen OS 12. Do note this thing if you need them.

There are two things that I want you guys to be aware of on Oxygen OS 12 Stable/Open Beta. And both are related to Location Permissions.
You might have received 2 notifications asking you to allow Location permission for Quick Device Connect and Carrier Location Services. Well you don't have to provide any location permission to these apps as they don't require it.

Well, I have already posted a video in the group (check that video here) covering the same info which I am going to share with you guys.

1. Quick Device Connect Feature:
This app is developed by Oppo and is available on Realme, Oppo and OnePlus ( OOS12) devices only. As of now, I haven't found what's the actual use of this app, but let's keep it aside and talk about permission.
The app requests you for granting location permission. So I was just curious to know what permissions this app already has, so I went to App Info for Quick device Connect and found out that the Location permission is already granted to this app EVEN IF I HAVEN'T GRANTED IT. By default, the location permission is set to be precise and is allowed to be used all the time.
Don't know why Oppo/OnePlus had to force this useless feature to collect Precise Location, but better disable this crap using ADB as you can't disable it from Settings.
Command: adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.heytap.accessory

2. Carrier Location Services:
This app claims that the permissions are required for the operator to provide VoWiFi services or other USIM services. To be honest, I connected to WiFi and VoWiFi for my Jio SIM activated automatically. So this app doesn't need Location permission for that purpose.
However, you can disable this app from Settings > Apps > App Management > 3-dots > Carrier Location Services. And then Disable it.
