Scrying 🔮
Scrying is a divination practice in which a person fixes a relaxed, unfocused gaze on a reflective or visually ambiguous surface—such as a mirror, water, crystal, or flame—to induce spontaneous mental imagery, impressions, or symbolic visions that are then interpreted as insight or guidance; psychologically, it works by reducing external sensory input and analytical thinking, allowing the brain’s natural pattern-recognition processes (including pareidolia and projection of subconscious material) to generate meaningful images from ambiguity, while traditional spiritual interpretations hold that the surface acts as a medium or gateway through which information from divine, spiritual, or unseen realms can be perceived.

Relief of the goddess Satet

Currently expropriated and displayed in the Louvre Museum, Paris.
Satis was the protective goddess of the southern frontier and a principal deity of the region around Elephantine, near the First Cataract of the Nile. Closely associated with the annual Nile flood, she formed part of the local triad with the gods Khnum and Anuket.
