Apparently Iran’s Parliament Speaker Qalibaf announced the suspension of negotiations to Trump via Qatar, and Trump then directly intervened to offer more concessions to avoid collapsing the deal.

These concessions are related to Lebanon, and also the immediate lifting of the U.S. blockade instead of within 30 days (this is already confirmed)

This was reported by Reformist-affiliated ‘Entekhab’, so time will tell whether this is true or not.

Because based on my personal sources, Iran already wanted to add this to the terms last night (and even before) but the U.S. did not agree. It was one of the last remaining points still under discussion.

So is the Foreign Ministry implying that they would have signed that MoU anyway, without the inclusion of an Israeli withdrawal, if it wasn’t for the events in Beirut today and the subsequent military threats?

In other words, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanon is not an additional concession, but rather a demand Iran made even 1-2 days ago and was not accepted until now.

I firmly believe Iran could have gotten this concession even before issuing military threats against Israel. It likely would have been granted anyway.

What should have been done instead, is carry out the retaliation against Israel and then immediately announce the MoU to prevent Israel’s response.

The last thing I will say about this MoU, is that regardless of the contents, even if they were amazing and 100% in favor of Iran, I still wouldn’t support it.

Because the U.S. and Israel have shown throughout history that no agreement matters to them.

I sincerely hope I’m wrong and there are mechanisms to ensure the U.S. abides by its commitments, but I doubt.

Regardless, Iran shattered all predictions and managed to resist a joint American-Zionist coalition, which is a victory in itself.
