Insulting figures that Sunni Muslims hold in high esteem was already banned, but some groups of Shia Muslims had claimed that it's okay to insult or curse them in private 'as long as no Sunni's feelings are hurt', but this has now been clarified beyond any doubt.

Furthermore, the Supreme Leader states that some Muslims — both among the Shias and Sunnis — actively try to sow discord between the two sects, and that this only serves the enemies of Islam.
