Starting in April 2023, non-security cumulative updates will be released during the fourth week of the month. As a reminder, these updates are intended to test fixes and innovations for next month's mandatory cumulative updates, which users will receive on the second Tuesday.

"Starting in April 2023, we now target optional non-security preview releases for the fourth week of the month. We have found this to be the optimal time for us to publish and for you to consume these updates. That's two weeks after your latest monthly security update and about two weeks before you'll see these features become part of the next mandatory cumulative update.", says Microsoft.
Microsoft is aware of the issue and has issued an update. Snipping Tool 11.2302.20.0 fixes the bug. Currently, it is only available to Insiders. After installing this update, you shouldn't be able to reproduce the scenario any longer.

It is easy to test if your Snipping Tool is affected by the bug.

1) Capture a screenshot, and save it to a file.
2) Make note the size of the saved file.
3) Heavily crop the image and then save it (Ctrl + S).
4) See the size of the file. If it grew instead of becoming smaller, your Snipping Tool is affected by the bug.

Microsoft has released Windows 11 Build 25324 to insiders who are on the Canary channel. They will find an updated three-column widget panel, animated icons from widgets on the taskbar, a settings page for USB4 hubs and devices, password insecure copy and paste warnings, an option to select the desired camera from Settings -> Accounts -> Sign In Options. and more.
The next thing to leave the classic Control Panel and to land in the new Settings app is the Sound applet. For that, Microsoft has added the Soundscape page to the System > Sound section which is currently a stub. It does not contain any elements as of this writing. It is time to say goodbye to the legacy "Sound" dialog.
Beta channel insiders are receiving two new builds with KB5023780. Windows 11 Build 22624.1470 includes the new USB4 settings page, seconds for the clock on the taskbar, a button to copy two-factor authentication (2FA) codes, and a colorful VPN overlay icon. Windows 11 Build 22621.1470 shows no goodies.

Microsoft has restored one tiny feature that has been removed from the OS years ago. The Wi-Fi icon in the system tray now shows connection progress via an animation.

While the connection animation is indeed a minor but welcome change, personally I miss something different. Many legacy Windows versions, including Windows 98, Windows XP, and up to Windows Vista, had a true animated network icon. It was a nice and quick way to check out your network connection activity. When you had an incoming or outgoing traffic, the appropriate indicator was flashing in the tray.

At Qualcomm event, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and head of Windows + Devices Pavan Davuluri briefly talked about the future of "Windows 12", the next major release of the OS. As you could already guess, everything is about AI, Copilot, and that new X Elite chip. To name a few:

* The Copilot assistant helps in reasoning and creating various things. With the reasoning engine and a natural user interface developers can create a new generation of software of nearly all types.
* The future versions of Windows will heavily rely on hybrid computing. While certain AI functions will be processed locally using NPUs, more complex tasks will get additional computing power from the cloud.
* A brand-new generation of computers embedded with artificial intelligence is presently being developed.
* In the future, AI will be capable of managing many various apps, services, and devices, acting as an assistant that can establish and maintain context across all work tasks. Perhaps Microsoft Copilot will have the ability to learn user habits and become an even more useful tool.
* Snapdragon X Elite and Windows 11 will deliver faster performance, and application emulation will be more efficient.

Speaking about the Snapdragon X Elite chip, we will soon see devices with it from Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Honor, Lenovo, Samsung, Xiaomi and Microsoft Surface. All these vendors are already working on such devices.
