✴️ Panos Panay insists that Windows 11 is all about quality

Recently Microsoft announced that Windows 11 was now ready for broad deployment. The company probably feels so because it has seen a massive adoption, twice that of Windows 10, says Microsoft.

At Computex 2022, Panos Panay again mentioned that quality of the OS was still the highest priority for the WinduTows 11 development team.

Here's the most important thing for our team, quality, quality, quality. People using it are finding the quality in the product, which has just been awesome. That also translates to product satisfaction. It is the highest product satisfaction of any version of Windows we've ever shipped. You kind of see that.

🐞 Windows 11 CPU usage reporting appears to be broken

During a test run of Lara Croft Shadow of the Tomb Raider (SotTR), the software developer of the 'CapFrameX' tool, noticed a strange behavior of the OS for reporting game performance on the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. A screne that causes intensive load on the hardware was reported with a weirdly low CPU value. Only one of the 16 threads was showing the actual usage data.

There are a number of messages on the Microsoft forum, where a user reported something similar. For him, Task Manager usage is very high or at a 100% whereas Xbox Game Bar and the MSI Dragon Centre are showing far lower usages. The first report there comes from 2019, with more and more users joining conversation and confirming the defect in 2022.

🛍Microsoft Store now accepts Win32 apps, any of them

The first day of the Build 2022 developer conference highlights an impressive change in the Microsoft Store. Microsoft now accepts Win32 application from everyone.

Microsoft is also opening Microsoft Advertising platform for developers who can promote their apps in the Microsoft Store. But to use it, the developer must have an account with at least one published application.

The company has added a direct action linked to the Microsoft Store to the search results on Windows. So that you can quickly jump to the installation of the app right from the search window.

Finally, Microsoft Store will allow you to quickly restore the apps from your library. It will be similar to how you set up a new smartphone running iOS or Android.

Clipchamp got a new icon! 🔥

In the fall of 2021, Microsoft bought the startup Clipchamp, which developed the service of the same name for creating and editing videos in a web browser.

Later, Microsoft included Clipchamp in Windows 11 as a system application, while retaining the original icon (logo) of the service, which stood out noticeably from the Fluent icons of other system applications.

Now, literally today or yesterday, Microsoft released an update to Clipchamp in the Dev channel (or not only in the Dev channel?). It's hard to say what changes were made at first glance, but the new Fluent-style app icon immediately caught my eye.
