A missing piece of the puzzle regarding massive success on YouTube for people like Mr. Beast and Lex Friedman is that YouTube "heats" their videos to help them go viral and build a large subscriber base. It's a practice they've done behind the scenes for creators they want to support since the beginning of the platform.

Internally TikTok calls it "heating" the videos. A phrase we should start using to describe the artificially viral content on major platforms that they promote and want to become part of the mainstream online ecosystem. "Boosting" sounds too ordinary. Heating rhymes with cheating. So maybe it's time "heated videos" becomes part of the public lexicon.

A book that recently came out about the history of YouTube called "Like, Comment, Subscribe" details how employees have used this to mint new YouTube celebrities from the start. The employees interviewed for the book all admit this, and it should be common sense that they're putting their thumb on the scales on the back end.

Not to discount the talent of Mr. Beast or anything, but all of his "strategies" of testing 1000 different thumbnails and titles which he credits with his success may have largely been a fools errand because if the YouTube Gods heat your videos, they're going to go mega viral no matter what.

The platform wants a "brand friendly" face to be seen as the mascot, so to speak. And he's that guy at this point in time.

The Search feature, as well as the Recommendation and Up Next algorithms haven't been the same since 2017 for those channels in the news genre, as CEO Susan Wojcicki admits, it hurts ordinary creators, and heats mainstream media channels, which is why many YouTubers' subscriber counts have been stagnant for years, while the mainstream channels that had embarrassingly low numbers pre-2017 quickly skyrocketed.

They're heating the channels.

Eliza Bleu (a fake name), the self proclaimed "sex trafficking survivor" is abusing the privacy tools and policies on big tech to get people censored and banned for posting publicly available (non explicit, non-nude) photos and videos of her which she claims are "non consensual" (i.e. revenge porn), which they are not.

They're from a music video she stared in when she was a video vixen, which she was very proud of at the time, but that conflicts with the timeline of her being an alleged "survivor" of "trafficking."

Tim Pool has been running defense for her because he helped boost her profile by having her on his podcast (not once, but twice), so his ego won't allow him to admit he got duped and promoted a grifter who is now desperately censoring other YouTubers who are exposing her.

It's one thing to be wrong on an issue, but Tim is complicit in the censorship and running defense for Eliza Blue with an insane conspiracy theory that she hired a "PR firm" who used trolls to "attack her" online in order to boost her profile by getting people to look into her. His cohost Ian Crossland posted a new video today on his personal YouTube channel addressing the situation properly, which is what Tim should have done ON DAY ONE. Call out the censorship, and admit that her story doesn't add up and she needs to be investigated for grifting and hurting the very cause that she claims to be fighting for.

I lost a lot of respect for Tim over his bizarre handling of this situation (who is still in denial about it, and deflecting). Not sure I’ll do a video about this, but wanted everyone to know what’s going on with “Eliza Bleu” and my take on the whole situation. It's mostly a story on Twitter right now and she's been trending on and off for two weeks from the controversy, so at this point it's not a widely known story. But Candace Owens is now investigating her, so you may be hearing about this woman in the future as her story continues to fall apart, and she desperately tries to censor people posting the evidence.

When some scumbag starts censoring YouTubers for using photos or videos that clearly fall under Fair Use laws, we should all have their backs. A lot of YouTubers are afraid to call out Tim because they want to be invited on his show some day. I couldn't care less. I've turned down an invite three times to be on it. I'd have to take three days off from my own channel, one to fly across the entire country to his studio, another for the day of the interview, and a third to fly back home.

Often YouTube "friendships" cause people to avoid telling the truth about certain stories because they don't want to cut off any potential podcast invitations to promote their channel. Not me.
