State Lawmakers Fight to Amend Constitution with Convention of States

The provision for states to call a convention to propose amendments is guaranteed in Article V of the Constitution. Article V requires two-thirds of all states to call the convention and then three-fourths of those states to vote in order to ratify an amendment. However, opponents argue the convention could be used to rewrite the entire Constitution, but supporters said this isn’t the case.

“We’re not calling for a constitutional convention where we rewrite the Constitution,” Gov. Greg Abbott (R-Texas) said. “We’re being very specific here about a convention of states to propose amendments to the Constitution. So the Constitution at large stays precisely the way that it is. We’re looking for just one or two points that we want to clarify in the Constitution by amendments and that’s what you do in a convention of states.”

However, the COS Project has imposed limits on the powers of the convention by keeping its scope to three topics targeted at limiting federal powers.

“Imposing fiscal restraints on the federal government, limiting the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, and limiting the terms of office for its officials,” Rita Dunaway, National Legislative Director of the COS Project, explained.

Currently, 15 of the 34 states required to call the convention have passed resolutions to participate.

Oh, but it gets even better. President Trump is having an effect on more than just the GOP. He's also causing a shift in funds on the DEMOCRAT side.

"Buyer’s remorse setting in after Biden took office on January 20 appeared to be a real thing, at least on social media, where myriads of posts could be found as disillusioned Biden voters vented their disappointment with Biden’s handling of numerous issues. But now, the first quarter’s fundraising demonstrates just how badly the Democratic base is doing when it comes to supporting their own party now that Biden is safely in office. According to verified sources, the DNC raised only $18 million in January and February."

To contrast that, Trump has raised $85 MILLION ... In the first quarter of 2021 alone. He beat both the GOP and the Democrat commies, and it wasn't even close. Americans left and right have had it with the games. This is another way we can break the stranglehold that the establishment has on everyday Americans.

The Last Refuge: Three Lawfare Groups Petition Biden DOJ to Shut Down Maricopa County Forensic Audit — Cockroaches Fear the Light

After the Democrat Secretary of State failed to get the Arizona State Attorney General to initiate an investigation of the audit; and after a Democrat state judge rejected the Democrat effort for a temporary restraining order; and after all other efforts have failed…. now we see three outside left-wing election groups (claiming bipartisanship yet led by lawyers from NYU) asking the DOJ to intervene in the Maricopa County, Arizona, ballot audit.

The Brennan Center, Protect Democracy and The Leadership Conference have signed a letter to the civil rights division of the DOJ asking them to get involved.

The arguments within the letter [link to pdf below] are identical to the arguments made previously by other Lawfare groups, including Perkins Coie, to a state judge.  The state judge rejected the arguments because there was no evidence submitted to the court to back them up.

‘No More’: Sen. Ted Cruz Stops Accepting Corporate PAC Contributions

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, is vowing that he will no longer accept campaign contributions from corporate political action committees and urges colleagues to do the same.

Last week, a group of seven House Republicans pledged to stop accepting contributions from Big Tech companies, including Facebook, Google, Amazon, Apple, and Twitter, which they said censor conservative voices online.

“This is going to be a litmus test for conservatives,” a Republican campaign official told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Jordan: So have you guys found any ballots that you believe may be fraudulent?

Ken Bennett: No, we won’t be announcing any of that until the end of the audit. So right now they are just counting the ballots. And they are looking at the paper evaluation to see if there are folds in the ballots that were returned by mail. Are the ovals filled in by a handwritten marking instrument as opposed to a xerox machine that just marked a bunch of ballots. All of the audit results and findings will be part of the final report. We’re not gonna do a little bit every day because we might find good things one day and bad things the next.

Jordan: So are you on track to have all the ballots counted by the deadline?

Ken Bennett: Well there is no deadline. We knew when we took this facility over that on May 15th the floor of the coliseum needed to be available for about five days for 18 high schools in the Phoenix union high school district so that they could have graduations over those five days. ...but there are other portions of the building that we could move the ballots into that are secure and maybe we could even give people a little break for four or five days... They told after those five days are over we can have the facility for as long as we need it.

Ken Bennett: No. We haven’t confirmed any activity from those particular groups or anyone else. But, unfortunately, we’ve had the press and the media taking pictures of people’s license plates and trying to get closeups on their name badges and faces, of course. So it makes the workers and the observers a little bit nervous when the press is going to that length to try to identify somebody.

Swing Vote Senator Joe Manchin Crushes Democrat Dreams of Federal Election Takeover

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) said Friday he “would not be able to support” House legislation to federalize elections.

Manchin also said on MetroNews regarding the bill that he believes election integrity is necessary.

“Every vote should be accessible, it should be secure, and it should be fair. That’s the responsibility we have, and [if] the states are subverting that, then we should put guard rails on it,” he said.

Manchin did not say, however, which parts of the 800-page bill, named H.R. 1, dissatisfies him, which passed the House on March 3 along partisan lines, irking Manchin.

“How in the world could you, with the tension we have right now, allow a voting bill to restructure the voting of America on a partisan line? I just believe with all my heart and soul that’s what would happen, and I’m not going to be part of it,” he said April 27.

Manchin feels comfortable throwing a wrench into the radical Democrats’ fast-moving laundry list of legislative items, telling the New York Times, “What are they [Democrats] going to do? Are they going to go into West Virginia and campaign against me? Please, that would help me more than anything.”
