The new judge in the Democrats Maricopa County case began his career in 1992 as an associate at Brown & Bain (now Perkins Coie).
He was reportedly appointed Judge in 2007 by Janet Napolitano, the former governor and Obama’s Secretary of Homeland Security.
A 2010 Judges Review Blog listed Martin under the following category: “Judges this site gave very poor reviews to (generally very liberal)”
Regarding the new hearing, leftist reporter Brahm Resnik writes:
“UPSHOT Judge's recusal & new timeline would appear to allow Senate GOP & Cyber Ninjas to run out clock till they have to vacate Coliseum on May 14.
BUT Arizona Democratic Party attorneys tell me they've requested 'immediate hearing.' 10-day pause is boilerplate language.”
Now according to the attorneys in the case the new judge has set the hearing for Tuesday at 11AM
Update: Tomorrow's hearing will NOT be an evidentiary hearing. It will be a "return hearing", more of a let's figure out where we go from here type of hearing. That’s good news. It means that a large part of the audit could be complete before the case is resolved.

Matt DePerno and his team have been given 30 days to submit their report to rebut the Secretary of State. Other names also listed in the court filing are Ret. Col. James P. Waldron, Russell Ramsland, and Dr. Douglas Frank. At the previous court hearing on April 12, Judge Elsenheimer had temporarily denied statements by Cyber Ninjas and other experts because their reports had been filed too late/close to the April 12 court date. The judge had, however, allowed DePerno and his team 10 days to submit documents that would grant DePerno's list of Expert Witnesses to be accepted into the record as evidence.
The next court hearing is scheduled for May 10 to hear a "motion for dismissal of the lawsuit on claims that it is moot and that the plaintiff lacks standing to proceed" filed by the State of Michigan. The June 8 non-jury trial for this case is being rescheduled due to "litigation delays", according to MLive.

He stated: "the Senate has the authority to audit but must balance that with the constitutional rights of voters." He added later: "I'm not persuaded that rights of voters in Maricopa County are being protected,” i.e. he may enforce the TRO tomorrow. Judge said that issue is central to the case,.
