TON’s blockchain is getting a major overhaul — and it’s all about collators . But what are they? Why did it take so long? And how will this affect your experience on the network? Let’s dive in.

🖥 So… What’s a Collator?
Imagine a city with 100 roads (shardchains) handling traffic (transactions) simultaneously. But every driver (validator) has to memorize every road’s layout before driving on it. That’s inefficient, right?
Collators fix this. They’re like local guides assigned to specific roads. They:
Keep track of traffic patterns (shard state).
Organize cars (transactions) into groups (blocks).
Validators then just check the final “traffic report” (block) instead of studying every road themselves.
Result: Faster traffic flow (transactions), less stress for drivers (validators), and fewer accidents.

🗓️ Why Did It Take So Long?
Collators were originally scheduled for late 2023. But life threw curveballs:
🖤 2023: TON had to adapt for BRC-20 tokens (Bitcoin NFTs).
🖤 2024: The network scrambled to handle clicker game airdrops (looking at you, Hamster Kombat).
Now, in 2025, the focus is back. Collators are live in test environments and will roll out to the mainnet by July .

News from Blum: the popular Tap-to-Earn app has announced the long-awaited TGE of its $BLUM token. And by the end of the week, the team shared the criteria for the airdrop as well. The activity snapshot is June 7.

Looks like TON is preparing something new. A post at X about rebranding the blockchain's social media pages disappeared almost as soon as it was published.

🖤 TON Network: Small glitch in masterchain fixed.
TON Network Update: On Sunday, block generation in the masterchain was suspended for about an hour due to an error in queue processing. The TON team promptly fixed it. The network is working in normal mode.
