📝 Gal Eisenkot is the son of Minister Gen. Gadi Eisenkot, the former chief of staff of the Israeli army, who theorized the “Dahyeh Doctrine”.

This raises the toll to 89 soldiers in the ground invasion in Gaza.

“The force carried out sweeps on Jabalia's outskirts in the morning, in the Sheikh Zayed area. They spotted an open tunnel shaft, approached it with the Special Operations Engineering Unit—and then there was a loud explosion of an IED. Gal Eisenkot was seriously injured in the explosion and taken to Assuta Hospital in Ashdod, where he was pronounced dead.

“At that moment, General Eisenkot was on a visit to the south at the ‘forward’ base of the 162nd Division, in which his son was serving. He witnessed the incident on live television through the screens of the war room. Minutes later, the division's CoS, Brig. (Res.) Moshe Mayo, informed him that his son was one of the critically wounded.”
