International Monetary Fund:

"Our director of the Middle East and Central Asia Region, Jihad Azour, is temporarily suspended from his work, and is currently on leave."

This is intended to allow his presidential bid to move on, without losing his job at the IMF.

Kataeb party announce they will boycott the second session of the parliamentary gathering, if Sulaiman Franjieh has enough votes (65) to win in that round.

Both opposing blocs are expected to act in a similar fashion.

🔴 The Lebanese parliament failed to elect a new Lebanese president for the 12th time.

Top IMF official Jihad Azour received 59 votes, while Suleiman Frangieh received 51. In the first round, 86 votes were needed to win. Hezbullah and Amal blocked the second round (no quorum), where 65 votes were enough.

The FPM (Aoun's party) continued presenting itself in a fragile state after 6 of its parliamentarians voted for Ziad Baroud, breaking the leadership's consensus for Azour. Their allies from the Armenian party voted for Suleiman Frangieh.

The Secretary General of Hezbullah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, received the Secretary General of the Arab National Congress and Karama party leader, Hamdeen Sabahi.

Sabahi is a well known Egyptian politician, journalist, and opposition figure.
