The head of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, announced his resignation from the leadership of the party, and calls for an electoral general conference on 25 June.

He is preparing to handover the party and its supporters to his son, like he did from his father.

Lebanon was granted a one-year grace period by the Western-led watchdog Financial Action Task Force (FATF) to resolve its financial, monetary and banking crisis, or risk being labeled as a non-cooperative country. FATF points at insufficient measures to combat money laundering and terrorist financing.

Two U.S. intelligence officials told FDD’s Long War Journal, that Hezbullah’s “Golan Unit” is conducting military exercises in preparation to attack American troops operating in Syria, if the need ever rises.

⋯ The “Golan Unit” is headed by Musa Ali Daqduq, a Hezbullah military commander who was a significant figure in forming the Iraqi resistance groups during the US occupation of Iraq.

⋯ In 2007, Daqduq was captured by the U.S. military. After 11 months, he was transferred to Iraqi custody and released in Nov. 2012

Daqduq soon returned to Lebanon and was placed in charge of training Hezbollah’s special forces.
