The Iranian Minister of Agriculture highlighted one of the key challenges in advancing knowledge-based agriculture:
The lack of impactful research outcomes. Speaking to members of the Farmer's House, the Minister expressed dissatisfaction with the slow integration of knowledge in agricultural production.
He stressed the need for extension agents to be present in fields and villages, noting, "The output from our research sector does not align well with the capabilities of the Agricultural Research, Education, and Extension Organization (AREEO), indicating issues in this area."
He praised the private sector for successfully using modern methods to optimize agricultural production. "When knowledge-based companies and private sector players advance rapidly and achieve success, it’s evident that there are problems in our research and extension sector," he stated.
Highlighting the success of private sector efforts in water optimization in Khuzestan, he called for increased efforts within the AREEO.
