“Traders in a market town in Herefordshire have described being left short of cash and forced to travel miles with their takings, months after the last bank branch closed.

A number of shop owners have told the BBC they feel they are putting their own security at risk, by having to travel in order to bank their takings.

A big thank you to everyone who turned up in Leigh yesterday.

We managed to cover all the shops in the town centre: distributing the ‘we accept cash’ flyers for them to put on display.

We had lots of positive conversations with shop and business owners and many were visibly scared when I told them they will lose their businesses if we go cashless and move to programmable
money.

My huge subject access parcel has arrived (on paper as requested) from HSBC (in relation to the freezing of my HSBC current account).

There are some ominous parts with ‘scores’ that have been blocked out.

- Behaviour Score - looking into this this is what credit reference agencies and banks use to assess a customers behaviour or potential behaviour that could be a risk . This is where banks can get around laws on people having a right to not be discriminated by saying a customers behaviour does not fit with their ‘aims and values’ so they can cease or put restrictions on an account (see the Guardian article on this I shared earlier).

This after brief research is a relatively new addition to banking that has been devised by psychologists and (surprise) run with Ai and is clearly a social credit score system turning sinister- already.

They claim it’s open to ‘manipulation by the customer’ and can’t be shared 🤦‍♀️🙄

Also blocked out:

- Customer risk score

- Post code level risk score

- Pre bureau behaviour risk score

- Bureau Score
