Ministry, OJK collaborate to accelerate financing access for MSMEs Some 3,000 red-and-white Indonesian flags have been raised on the Indonesia-Malaysia border in Jagoi Babang Sub-district, Bengkayang District, West Kalimantan, to mark the 81st anniversary of Indonesia’s independence next week.
"Thousands of the flags fluttering along the road from Sungai Take intersection to the Jagoi Babang border crossing post and to the kilometer zero of the Indonesia-Malaysian border," Jagoi Babang Sub-district Head Saidin stated on Tuesday.
Besides raising the flag along the road to the border, the local authority also organized the "Red-and-White Parade," where participants marched for 4 kilometers from the Jagoi village office to the border crossing post in a show of patriotism and pride in the nation's symbol.
During the activity, they unfolded a giant Indonesian flag measuring 8 x 17 meters.
According to the sub-district head, the parade and the flag decoration along the road reflected local residents' nationalism and understanding of their strategic position in the border area.
"Jagoi Babang is not merely a minor sub-district as we all stand here as the front porch of Indonesia, directly facing the neighboring country," Saidin stressed.
"We want to convey the message that nationalism among Jagoi Babang residents is not fading. We are always patriots to preserve the unity of Indonesia," he added. https://en.antaranews.com/news/426623/3000-flags-raised-in-indonesia-malaysia-border-for-independence-day

China and Mongolia discuss preparations for COP17 State Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Batbayar Shurenchuluun held a meeting with Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of China in Mongolia Cao Li and other relevant officials.
The State Secretary expressed gratitude to China for providing a non-refundable financial grant of USD 1 million to support the organization of the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).
Emphasizing the profound significance of COP17 in driving effective, collaborative efforts to combat desertification both in Mongolia and across the wider region, State Secretary Batbayar provided a brief update on the conference preparations.
He noted that Mongolia will propose three major initiatives to the international community during the conference, including "Rangelands Flagship Initiative", "Integrated Land and Water Management Initiative", and "Nature-Based Solutions for Sustainable Infrastructure".
The State Secretary requested China's active support and cooperation in advancing these three initiatives.
The two sides also discussed the development of a feasibility study for the "China-Mongolia Desertification Prevention and Control Cooperation Center", exploring how the center's construction and future operations will focus on mitigating environmental degradation and the impacts of climate change. The establishment of the center is planned in three phases. Following successful first-phase negotiations, the parties exchanged views on the ongoing preparatory works and agreed to officially initiate Phase III. Moving forward, both sides agreed to continue implementing joint training and capacity-building programs tailored to their mutual environmental needs and strategic priorities. https://akipress.com/news:911937:China_and_Mongolia_discuss_preparations_for_COP17/

Silver Price Forecast: Why Silver Could Push Back Into The $80s The Silver price (in US Dollars) has staged a sharp August rebound, climbing back above $65 after spending much of July below $60.
RBC’s latest Fresnillo model points to a much stronger second half, with the bank saying: “We expect gold and silver prices to increase by +14% and +22% in the second half of the year.”
Its operating assumptions put silver at an average $77.48 an ounce in 2026, rising to $83.13 in 2027, before easing slightly to $80 in 2028.
Those figures sit well above current spot around $65.81 and imply that RBC still sees room for a sizeable recovery even after the latest rally. Silver has risen around 10% over the past month, with XAG/USD rebounding sharply from July’s low near $54.78.
The silver assumptions form part of RBC’s updated Fresnillo valuation work rather than a standalone commodity strategy note, but they are nonetheless important because they feed directly into the miner’s earnings https://www.exchangerates.org.u

U.S. Treasury is paying $3 billion a day in interest on national debt, says the CBO—having spent $10 billion to prop up the currency of its top lender The government’s nearly $40 trillion national debt is now costing the Treasury more than $3 billion a day in service payments, according to a new report from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).
In its August budget update, the CBO reported that net interest on public debt totaled $963 billion between October 2025 (when the fiscal year begins) and July 2026. That equates to $96.3 billion a month, or approximately $3.18 billion a day over the 303 days in between.
Interest payments on the debt have grown by $117 billion—or 14%—compared to the same period last year, the CBO added, on account of the debt being “larger than it was in the first 10 months of fiscal year 2025 and because of higher long-term interest rates.” The CBO, led by director Phil Swagel, added, “Declines in short-term rates partially mitigated the overall rise in interest payments.” https://fortune.com/2026/08/11/us-treasury-national-debt-interest-cbo-yen-unwinds/

🇻🇪 VENEZUELA AND THE UNITED STATES MOVE TO REACTIVATE FINANCIAL MECHANISMS
Venezuela’s interim president, Delcy Rodríguez, held a high-level strategic meeting on Monday with officials from the United States Department of the Treasury and Department of State—a significant step aimed at “reactivating financial mechanisms.”
The meeting brought together representatives of the Venezuelan state and the U.S. delegation to review a shared economic development agenda. At the center of the discussions was a clear objective: to strengthen concrete, active agreements across several strategic areas, particularly trade, finance, and energy.
This was more than a formal diplomatic encounter. It was a working session focused on tangible mechanisms capable of producing measurable results. Both sides examined opportunities to restore financial channels, reinforce commercial cooperation, and advance energy arrangements that could contribute to greater economic stability.
One of the central issues was the stability of the energy market. Venezuela remains a country with enormous energy potential, and any serious effort to promote economic recovery must recognize the importance of a stable, predictable, and functional energy framework. The talks therefore addressed immediate interests and the broader need for coordination in a sector whose impact extends far beyond borders.
The reactivation of financial mechanisms was another decisive point on the agenda. Restoring these channels could facilitate commercial operations, unlock productive activity, improve access to investment, and support Venezuela’s socioeconomic development. Their true value will be measured by their impact on the real economy—industry, infrastructure, public services, employment, and the daily lives of Venezuelan families.
The meeting also signals a preference for dialogue grounded in results. After years of tension, restrictions, and political confrontation, attention is turning toward workable agreements and areas of shared interest. Trade, finance, and energy are not abstract diplomatic concepts: they are foundations for recovery, stability, and long-term development.
No single meeting can resolve every challenge, and the true test will be implementation. Commitments must become operating mechanisms; agreements must produce verifiable outcomes; and dialogue must translate into opportunities that benefit the Venezuelan people.
The message is direct: diplomacy must serve progress, financial channels must support productive growth, and energy cooperation must contribute to stability.
The next phase will depend on action. If the mechanisms discussed are genuinely reactivated and the agreements are carried forward, this meeting could mark an important step toward a more stable economic environment and a future shaped by cooperation, sovereignty, and tangible results.
A new stage will not be defined by declarations alone. It will be defined by what is built, restored, financed, and delivered.

Sole Proprietorships on the Rise More than 578,000 active sole proprietors were operating in Hungary at the end of June, up by more than 30,000 over the past year and 21,000 in the first half of 2026, business information provider OPTEN reported on Monday.
OPTEN noted that in 2024, Hungary recorded more active sole proprietors than companies for the first time. Five years earlier, companies had still held a clear lead. Since then, the number of active sole proprietors has increased by nearly 19%, while the number of companies has fallen by 7%. The two types of businesses have gradually moved closer together, eventually tipping the balance in favor of sole proprietorships.
According to OPTEN, the figures alone do not indicate that large numbers of companies have been converted into sole proprietorships. They do, however, clearly show that Hungary’s business structure is evolving differently from five years ago. https://hungarytoday.hu/sole-proprietorships-on-the-rise/

Hungarian Forint: Near-term gains against Euro before renewed pressure - Commerzbank
Commerzbank’s Tatha Ghose describes recent Forint weakness as a high-beta correction that only partly erases post-election outperformance. He expects EUR/HUF to recover toward 350–355 if global risk sentiment improves, but warns that accelerating core inflation and narrowing real interest rates as MNB cuts will later weigh on HUF, limiting the durability of any interim recovery.
"This near-term correction should not be over-interpreted as the forint has only given up a fraction of its outperformance since the April election, which had brought regime change. The regime-change story itself has not disappointed; Tisza’s ratings remain strong, and Peter Magyar is moving ahead with reforms on multiple fronts."
"If the global risk backdrop were to ease, the forint would recover a part of its losses, with EUR/HUF moving back to the 350-355 range. Later, however, the familiar constraints and a falling real interest rate will weigh down on the exchange rate."
"July CPI data showed underlying core inflation measures accelerating."
"Hungary’s real interest rate is likely to narrow as MNB cuts rates and as underlying inflation momentum stays elevated."

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) in its World Economic Outlook for April 2026 noted India's nominal GDP at $3.92 trillion for 2025-26, which makes India the sixth-largest economy in the world, Parliament was informed on Tuesday. "The IMF's rankings are based on nominal GDP measured at prevailing US Dollar exchange rates. Consequently, the relative ranking of economies can change due to a combination of factors, including economic growth, movements in exchange rates and prices, revisions to national accounts and changes in the size and growth of other major economies," Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.
The government has adopted a broad-based strategy to enhance the growth potential of the Indian economy, he said.
The strategy focuses on enhancing agricultural productivity, promoting manufacturing through initiatives such as the Production-Linked Incentive Schemes and relaxing Quality Control Orders, strengthening MSMEs, expanding world-class infrastructure, improving logistics through PM Gati Shakti and the National Logistics Policy, and fostering innovation, digitalization and research, he said.
The government is also promoting investment through sustained public capital expenditure, a liberalized FDI policy, an efficient and streamlined tax system through direct tax and GST reforms, and continued improvements in the ease of doing business, he said. https://www.business-standard.com/economy/news/india-6th-largest-economy-in-world-with-3-92-trn-gdp-govt-tells-parl-126081101053_1.html
