Sekishu Ken $ISHIGO (discovered in 1936 in Masuda City, Shimane Prefecture) is officially recognized as the father of the modern Shiba Inu. His pedigree was registered that year, and it is widely acknowledged by the Japanese Dog Preservation Society (NIPPO) that the development of today's Shiba Inu owes everything to Ishi Go. He was foundational in the breed's restoration after World War II, as most modern Shiba Inu can trace their lineage back to him, especially through his descendant Naka Go, who played a central role in the postwar revitalization of the breed.
