“Non-citizens should never be allowed to vote in American elections, yet shockingly nearly 12,000 people voted in the 2020 general election for federal office without any proof of U.S. citizenship,” Rep. Hoffman told the Arizona Daily Independent. “For years we’ve heard Democrats spin wild conspiracy theories about foreign influence on our elections, but today when they had the chance to prevent it, every single Democrat voted against preventing non-citizens from influencing our elections.”

In 2018, there were 1,700 people who voted in the Arizona general election for federal office that did NOT have proof of citizenship.

In 2020, the number of people who voted without proof of citizenship skyrocketed to nearly 12,000!

HB2492 would fix this once and for all.

...YET EVERY DEMOCRAT VOTED AGAINST THE BILL!

🚨BALLOT DROP BOX PROHIBITION🚨

Today my bill prohibiting ballot drop boxes, HB2238, PASSED out of the Arizona House of Representatives.

“In Arizona we want it to be easy, convenient, and SECURE to cast a ballot. Unmonitored ballot drop boxes, many of which were put into place by nearly half a billion dollars from Mark Zuckerberg, are not secure. Period. We must ensure that the anti-ballot harvesting and anti-ballot trafficking laws on the books are not circumvented by allowing these unsecured, unmonitored drop boxes. HB2238 is a major step in guaranteeing that bad actors can be prosecuted and only legally cast ballots are accepted.”

🚨 PC ELECTIONS ARE CRITICAL 🚨

I spent most of the day yesterday working on how to resolve the issue with HB2839 and the insane provision to strip PCs of their elected status and totally circumvent the PC elections.

This provision was snuck into the bill unbeknownst to most members. We were told that the Party supported the bill, which has proven to be false and that this was intended to fix the utter mess Katie Hobbs has made of our election procedures for 2022.

More concerning, this provision was seemingly intentionally hidden in the legislation. New provisions are supposed to be in BLUE CAPITAL LETTERS. Deletions are supposed to be in red. Current law is supposed to be in black normal case letters, yet this NEW provision was hidden in black normal case. This is standard practice for all legislation! Was this change in standard practice done intentionally in order to hide the provision from those of us that actually read the bills?

I am working on a full repeal of the language in HB2839 relating to PCs.

I am also working to get to the bottom of where this language came from. I have heard rumors that it was a done at the request of AACO, but have not been able to confirm for sure if that is the genesis of it.

🚨 PC ELECTIONS UPDATE 🚨

I just got out of a meeting with House Leadership. I’ve been pushing for a full repeal of this language all weekend.

Today, expect to see a FULL REPEAL of Section 4 from HB2839.

The section dealing with PC elections that was snuck into the emergency bill last week will be removed.

In my meeting with leadership today I also made it exceedingly clear that there must be accountability for this abhorrent breach of trust and legislative process. I will continue fighting for this in the coming days and weeks.

For now, expect the full repeal of HB2839’s Section 4 dealing with PC elections.

Update: 03/07/22 5:42pm

Democrats attempted to hold the repeal of the PC provisions of HB2839 hostage today, so the repeal couldn’t be voted on the floor.

In order to keep the momentum I worked with House Leadership and Republican members today to get the bill assigned to a special Government & Elections Committee meeting that will be held tomorrow afternoon.

I will keep working on this tomorrow in order to pass the repeal out of G&E so it can continue to the floor for a full vote of the House this week.

Update: 03/08/22 6:28pm

Today Senator Warren Petersen held a special hearing of the Senate Committee on Judiciary regarding the repeal of HB2839’s Section 4 that incorrectly eliminated PC elections for 2022. Senate President Fann spoke and assured PCs of her commitment to correcting the error. The senate did not vote today, but will be reconvening on Thursday to vote the repeal and possibly a fix for the original issue out of committee.

Today myself and Representative Kavanaugh led a special hearing of the House Committee on Government & Elections for the purpose of repealing Section 4 of HB2839. Speaker Bowers spoke and assured PCs of his commitment to correcting the error. At approximately 5:40pm the House Special Committee passed the repeal of HB2839’s Section 4 on a 7-6 vote with every Republican voting YES and every Democrat voting NO.

I want to personally thank every precinct committeeman that took the time out of their day to drive to the Arizona Capitol and spend hours onsite so that they could testify and make their voice heard regarding how important precinct committeemen are to our political process. I also want to thank every PC that took the time to watch online.

BACKGROUND

Today the Senate Government Committee passed two critical pieces of election integrity legislation.

House Bill 2236 (voter registration; request required)
House Bill 2236 enshrines the current process for registering Arizona voters into statute by requiring an affirmative request to vote.  At its core, HB2236 proactively addresses the issue of forced voter registration, also known as automatic voter registration, by prohibiting this insecure and highly controversial practice.  In states like California that utilize a forced registration tactic, any individual who interacts with the government is mandated to be added to the rolls unless that person retroactively opts out.  This technique has been wrought with erroneous and fraudulent registrations resulting in hundreds of thousands of false registrations having to be stripped from the voter rolls. In Arizona, we want to ensure that it is easy, convenient, and secure when casting a ballot. Maintaining our current process for registering voters and protecting against insecure tactics like forced voter registration is in the best interest of all Arizonans--Democrats, Republicans and Independents alike.

House Bill 2494 (voter registration events; posting)
House Bill 2494 is a transparency and voter empowerment bill that seeks to ensure voters are informed in a timely and accurate manner of the types of voter registration events their elected County Recorders and county elections staff are participating in.  HB2494 requires that basic information about the voter registration events being participated in are published to their respective county's website so that all members of the public have an equal opportunity to be informed.

🚨 MEDICAL FREEDOM UPDATE 💉💉

Today the senate Government Committee passed my bill that would BAN VACCINE MANDATES by any Arizona governmental entity!

House Bill 2498 (vaccination requirements; prohibition)
House Bill 2498 is a bill that protects one of the most precious freedoms of Arizonans--medical freedom.  Just today we reached the two year anniversary of 2-weeks to slow the spread.  Sadly, these past 24-months mutated from 2-weeks to slow the spread, into a nightmare of unintended consequences and losses of Americans' freedom like never before witnessed in the history of our great nation. For many Arizonans in leftist bastions like Pima County, and the cities of Tucson and Flagstaff, among others, we saw power hungry tyrants seize previously unimaginable power to infringe on the sacred right of the individual to make their own medical decisions based on the insights and advice of their trusted physician.  HB2498 says that no government entity--from the state to a university to a city, county or school district--can force anyone to inject themselves with a vaccine for COVID-19 or any subsequent variant.   Under our form of government, no government has the right to do this.  This bill is particularly important in protecting the civil rights of our brave police, fire and EMS workers that have been targeted with these anti-science mandate attempts.  These courageous individuals worked tirelessly throughout the early months of the COVID-19 situation to protect us, only to have Democrat politicians turn on them and attempt to force them to be injected with something they didn't want.  Regardless of what you think about COVID, the science is exceedingly clear that the vaccine does not prevent the transmission or contraction of the disease. 

I am grateful for my Republican colleagues on the senate Government committee who stood on the side of science and on the side of freedom by supporting HB2498 today!
