fun fact: Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation double headed eagle comes from the Byzantine Empire. The Germans were basically larping as Romans, but another nation that today possesses this symbol is Russia, making Russia more Roman than Italy in symbology. Matter of fact the view of Russia being the "Third Rome" is actually quite old and comes mainly from the marriage between Tsar Ivan III and Sophia Paleologue, a niece of the last Byzantine emperor.
