📍Mariupol - the city is liberated with the exception of Azovstal, and civilian life is slowly returning to normal... or is it?

The ruble is widely accepted there and from May 1, the city of Kherson also officially switches over to ruble payments.

*With 2.5 rubles to 1 hryvna ratio, it is likely the hryvna is being artificially propped up. To protect the savings of the local population, an arbitrary rate was probably set by authorities.

There would be very little volume of hryvna on the market so it won't be moving the FX market in relation to other currencies. If you look at purchasing power parity, the hryvna would be worthless.

I would also think that the bond market would be propping it up. A lot of the financial aid coming into the country will be through the purchase of Ukrainian government bonds which means, artificial demand for bonds.

Ukrainians are ideal victims of the info war

📍Melitopol. WWII veterans rejoyce at the upcoming May 9 Victory Day parade - in the regime past, it was not allowed to wear your Soviet uniform proudly nor display the St. George ribbon.

Despite the meddling of the US in Ukraine, the veteran remains largely kind hearted in his experience of the world.

Babushka Z has been found - she lives in the Kharkov region, only 12km from the border with Russia.

She was offered to be evacuated but said she had too many animals to care for. 😺🐶

Several weeks earlier, she mistook Ukrainian soldiers for Russian soldiers, and came out to greet them with a Soviet flag - in a now iconic video.
