“Bro. Hyles, I really want God to give me a bigger ministry so that I can help influence more people for right.” This was a statement I made to my preacher when I was a young man with a great desire for God to do more through me. It was not that I was looking to be great; I simply wanted God to give me a bigger ministry so I could help more people for right.

In Bro. Hyles’ wisdom, he answered me by saying, “Brother Domelle, don’t worry about getting big, because many men who have tried to get bigger on their own have compromised.” He then went through a list of names of men that, if I were to mention their names even now, many would know who they are. Each of these men wanted to get big, but they had to compromise to get there.

God said, “seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not…” He then went further and said that He would make them a "prey in all places whither thou goest." In other words, God was telling them to just do right, and He would take care of them.

I am afraid that too many people in this generation are seeking greatness, and in order to get it, there are several things they are willing to do. Some have podcasts that destroy their heritage because they want to get a following so they can be an influence for their evil agenda. Some will compromise what they believe so they can get a bigger platform to be an influence in this generation.

Too many are looking to be influencers instead of being impacters. You will only make an impact on the lives of people by simply staying busy and doing what you are supposed to do. Instead of looking to be great or to get big, stay busy reaching the lost for Christ and building the work that God has given you to build. You will find out that God knows your name and telephone number, and He will know when to call you when you are ready to do something big.

Stop seeking greatness and start seeking to do what is right. If you will do what is right, greatness will follow.
