Low sulfate production can lead to excess hydrogen sulfide in the gut ... and that looks an awful lot like SIBO!
I have homozygous variants in SUOX, the gene (enzyme) that converts sulfites to sulfates. After some time (years).of learning my own genetics, immune intolerances, problematic foods and signs of flare, I can feel when things (bloated belly, fat over my ribs, arthritic-like pain in spcific finger joints) I use supplements like CHONDROITIN SULFATE. There is history to these symptoms (emotional and physical.stress factor large in shredding my gut in 2012) i read a lot of papers by Aristo Vojdani on biomimickry and auto-immunity (iow, inflammation of soft tissue). CORN looks an awful lot like the sunovial tissue of human joints. If I 'go off the wagon' (eat corn chips and popcorn), my gut and joints flare. This criss-reactivity is old news to people struggling with environmental.triggers. How each of us deals with it is bio-individual. Knowing your DNA (ENZYMES/PROTEINS) of detoxification is a really good olace to start, aling with cleaning up the gut and microbiota.
