🔸 The Greek Coast Guard spotted a vessel disembarking illegal immigrants near the region of Gennadi, Rhodes.

‼️ The Authorities engaged on a chase after the vessel which tried to flee, performing dangerous maneuvers and trying to develop speed. Warning shots were fired and later the engine of the vessel was shot and disabled

🔸 2 men were arrested as being the smugglers, 7 illegal immigrants have also been detained. Sadly no further information has been released regarding the ages and nationalities of the smugglers or immigrants

‼️ According with information, the gang charged illegal immigrants 10.000 Euros per person and the transport was carried out through sailboats

🔸 The anti-mafia prosecution of Catanzaro, in Calabria, took over the coordination of the investigation and those arrested by INTERPOL in other countries will also face trial in Italy

In the May 21 elections ND(New Democracy, Νέα Δημοκρατία), under PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis, wrote history. A landslide victory was achieved, falling just short of an outright majority (151 seats, ND won 146).

Kyriakos Mitsotakis has stated that he would push for a snap election, since Greece needs a government that believes in reforms, and this cannot happen with a fragile government. New Democracy has the approval of the citizens to govern independently and strongly.

The results as follow:
40.79% ND (146 seats), right wing
20.06% SYRIZA (71 seats), leftists
11.50% PASOK (41 seats), centre-left
7.21% KKE (26 seats), communists
4.45% GREEK SOLUTION (16 seats) right wing populists
OTHER PARTIES 15.98%

🔸 The U.S Navy's destroyer, USS Arleigh Burke, docked in Limassol last week

‼️ The Turkish Foreign Ministry issued an statement saying the docking is "destabilizing" and harms the U.S' neutral position in the current situation, Turkey also repeated that such actions compromise the reaching of a 'solution' for the settling of the illegal Turkish occupation of Cyprus

🔸 It seems as if smugglers have been changing their strategies, on the Turkish coast, some smugglers leave boats adrift in areas where cargo ships headed to Europe are sure to pass in order to "rescue" the stranded immigrants and take them to Europe without the intervention of Coast Guards or FRONTEX

‼️ The new strategy for land border crossings is leaving them stranded on islets in the middle of the Evros river that are on Greek territory and alert Greek authorities to "rescue" them

🔸👉 This time, 37 illegals were 'rescued', 17 men, 8 women and 12 "minors" (usually adult men pose as minors as well), their location was reported to Greek authorities anonymously through the emergency number "112" and it has been confirmed a smuggler took them to the islet and left them there

‼️ 3 of them have worked in the EYP (National Intelligence Service)

🔸 They actively helped 12 groups of illegal immigrants to enter Greece with an unknown total number of illegal immigrants. Telling the gangs when and where to cross as well as divert colleagues to other areas so that the groups could go further inland and avoid patrols

‼️ They were constantly in contact with 4 smugglers from Turkey

👮🏻‍♂️👉 Were seized: 26,550 euros, 59 phones, 12 power banks, 2,120 US dollars, 850 Turkish Lira

‼️ Smugglers usually approach guards with "tips" that lead to arrests of rival gangs and after that, the bribing starts, some rings approach the guards through social media
