๐Ÿ”ด Ship carrying illegal immigrants crashes in Italy, 59 dead
>https://archive.is/HrspH

๐Ÿ”ธ According with the Italian media, the ship left the Turkish coast, in the region of Smyrna (izimir), four days ago

โ€ผ๏ธ Shortly after the accident over 45 bodies were found, hours later even more bodies were found and the current total is of around 59 dead, 12 of them were minors

๐Ÿ”ธ The ship would have hit the rocks due to strong wind and broke in two, some of the bodies were found with extensive burn marks indicating that a big fire or explosion happened after the crash

/GBG/
๐ŸŸข This incident has the potential to kickstart another big immigration law reform in the EU. The EU might try to punish Italy for not allowing NGOs to ferry all the illegal immigrants they want into Italy

๐Ÿ”ด Ursula von der Leyen calls for more EU asylum efforts
>https://archive.is/TzICe

๐Ÿ”ธ After the shipwreck that killed nearly 60 illegal immigrants at the Italian coast, in the region of Calabria, Southern Italy (Previous post on it here)

๐Ÿ”ธ Ursula von der Leyen called for more efforts to be made to fulfill the EU's Pact on Migration and Asylum in the Central Mediterranean, which in other words means Italy since no other Eastern Mediterranean countries receive illegal immigrants by sea as Italy

โ€ผ๏ธ Italy has been sparking criticism from the EU once Georgia Meloni, Italy's Prime Minister, has been trying to find ways to prevent NGOs from smuggling illegal immigrants directly from Africa to Italy, leading to several public speeches of France's Macron openly criticizing her for it and her spectacular responses which expose France's misdeeds and hypocrisy

๐Ÿ”ด Cyprus' new president, Nikos Christodoulidis, directed a few words regarding how his government will be
>https://archive.is/O4VFA

๐Ÿ”ธ The new Cypriot president made simple but interesting points in his confirmation speech as he also appointed his ministers

๐Ÿ”ธ The president said his government will follow the lines of the previous government and that he will not admit in any moment an excuse of "we received scorched earth"

๐Ÿ”ธ He also told his ministers that they better resign before he has to ask them to in case things get to that point

โ€ผ๏ธ Needless to say, Christodoulidis is pro-unification of Cyprus and has an overall similar agenda to the previous government

๐Ÿ”ธ On 09/03 1,175 illegal immigrants arrived at the Italian island of Lampedusa

โ€ผ๏ธ The Meloni government will create special camps for illegal immigrants who voluntarily choose to return to their home countries and also increase the penalties for smugglers that cause the deaths of illegals during the crossing of the mediterranean

โ€ผ๏ธ This comes after a shipwreck that got international attention in the EU after 72 illegal immigrants died on a shipwreck, the ship left from Turkey (๐Ÿ‘‰post here๐Ÿ‘ˆ)

๐Ÿ”ด Ancient cemetery with more than 1000 graves discovered in Northen Greece
>https://archive.is/FGhzm

๐Ÿ”ธ The graveyard is one of the largest in Northern Greece, located on the coast of Agios Ioannis in Sithonia

๐Ÿ”ธ A total of 1044 graves of various types were found, dating between the 10th to 5th century BC, discovered when contractors began excavating an area to build a hotel

๐Ÿ”ธ The burials include amphorae, cists, pit latrines and a sarcophagus, most of the tombs were nearly intact

โ€ผ๏ธ Many valuable objects were found: earthenware vessels in the shape of a beetle and a crater, cauldrons, skyphoses, amphorae and nipples, figurines, bronze and iron ornaments that accompanied the dead

โ€ผ๏ธ Despite three excavation sites, Lambrotanasis explains, it remains unknown to which ancient settlement the cemetery belonged. The first estimates probably refer to a settlement on the island of Kastri, where, in 1977, research revealed the remains of prehistoric and archaic structures
