🔸 It was announced in late jan 2023 that Germany would not fulfill its agreement with Greece of rapidly replacing BMP-1s being sent to Ukraine from Greece with German Marder armored vehicles, because Germany decided to send them to Ukraine instead
⚠️ Germany, had reportedly pressured Greece that in order to receive the rest of the Marder in time, it would have to buy Lynx vehicles (not even tested yet) while simultaneously buying upgrades for the Greek Leopard -2 and 1A5, something Greece did not do and started looking into alternatives, being the French VBCI an option
‼️ Out of the 40 Marder vehicles to be replaced, Greece already received 14, with 6 expected to arrive shortly with the remaining 20 vehicles that should be delivered in the second semester of 2023 most likely not being delivered

🔸 The exercise area is extensive, part of it will happen in the area of the illegal Turkish-Libyan EEZ deal, showing that France recognizes the area as being part of the Greek maritime zone

‼️ Greece signed an agreement with the U.S in January 2021 regarding the transfer of 1200 M1117 Guardian vehicles from the US surplus, at a cost of 70 000 Euros each (cost of production is over 800 000). Hundreds of M1117 Guardians have been delivered to Greece in batchs since 2021
🔸 Some of the strategies of the government is to have a fleet big enough so that there would be enough spare parts and vehicles in general to keep them functional for decades
