π΄ Germany goes back on armored vehicle agreement with Greece
>https://archive.is/bBcPO
πΈ It was announced in late jan 2023 that Germany would not fulfill its agreement with Greece of rapidly replacing BMP-1s being sent to Ukraine from Greece with German Marder armored vehicles, because Germany decided to send them to Ukraine instead
β οΈ Germany, had reportedly pressured Greece that in order to receive the rest of the Marder in time, it would have to buy Lynx vehicles (not even tested yet) while simultaneously buying upgrades for the Greek Leopard -2 and 1A5, something Greece did not do and started looking into alternatives, being the French VBCI an option
βΌοΈ Out of the 40 Marder vehicles to be replaced, Greece already received 14, with 6 expected to arrive shortly with the remaining 20 vehicles that should be delivered in the second semester of 2023 most likely not being delivered
πΌ Images: BMP-1, Marder, VBCI, Lynx (still in development)

π΄ Creator of Turkish "blue homeland" accuses Greek search teams of spying on Turkish troops
>https://archive.is/JgMQb
πΈ Cihat Yayci, Erdogan's advisor, accused Greek rescue teams of spying on Turkish bases
πΈ He made completely false accusations against Greek teams working in Turkey after the 1999 earthquake and tried to raise questions regarding the current teams saying they could do the same, rephrasing it after some backlash online
π’ "I said that this was the case with the Greeks in the earthquake of 1999. This Greek rescue team, when it conducted operations in the area of ββthe Goltzuk fleet base. They were caught taking pictures of the military base. That is, while they were spying. And I said that this should be taken care of. I didn't say we shouldn't praise rescuers, but keep it in the back of our minds. The state must take its measures and it is already taking them"

π΄ Greece to receive U.S-made M1117 Guardian armored vehicles
>https://archive.is/yHm7A
πΈ "We expect to receive another 400 M1117 armored surveillance vehicles this year" Defense Minister Panagiotopoulos told a parliamentary session
πΈ The M1117 Guardians will be distributed to several units in Greece, some might be sent to Greek islands as they need vehicles for transport
βΌοΈ Greece signed an agreement with the U.S in January 2021 regarding the transfer of 1200 M1117 Guardian vehicles from the US surplus, at a cost of 70 000 Euros each (cost of production is over 800 000). Hundreds of M1117 Guardians have been delivered to Greece in batchs since 2021
πΈ Some of the strategies of the government is to have a fleet big enough so that there would be enough spare parts and vehicles in general to keep them functional for decades
