An American transgender man who sought asylum in the Netherlands over the Trump administration's transgender policies has returned to the U.S. after their asylum bid failed and said conditions at the Netherlands' main refugee center were so dangerous that he feared he would be “hurt or killed.”

California resident Jane-Michelle Arc was among roughly 76 Americans who applied for asylum in the Netherlands last year. He was sent to the Ter Apel refugee center, which houses around 2,000 asylum seekers.

Arc described conditions there as “dire” and said he faced anti-trans hostility from other asylum seekers, particularly Moroccans and Algerians, making it too dangerous even to walk to the supermarket.

“This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever done,” he said, comparing their experience in the Netherlands with life in the U.S. “The situation I have in the US as a trans person, not good, right? But here, I will be hurt or killed.”

I understand what you're saying. But you can't "identify as" a lineage you don't have. Esau is a Y-chromosome. All of his descendants carry it. It doesn't matter if they "identify as" Jews. They are still Edomites per law of blood. Ishmaelites are patrilineal. But Ishmaelite women don't carry the Ishmael Y-chromosome. The only person who can be an Edomite is a Y-chromosomal descendant of Esau. Women have no part in determining the patrilineage of their sons. It is an identity carried only on the Y-chromosome. It is a male-specific inheritance.

Edomite male (XY) x Ishmaelite female (XX) = Edomite male (XY). This boy would identify as an Edomite because the culture is patrilineal on both sides of the family.

Edomite male (XY) x Canaanite female (XY) = Edomite male (XY). But this man would identify as a Jew because you inherit language/culture more strongly from the mother, meaning he would identify more with his Canaanite (Jebusite) side.

This is why Jews have no idea who they are as men. They don't identify with their Y-chromosome, which is the only rational identity for a man. There is no Israelite X chromosome. Nor is there an Edomite or Ishmaelite X chromosome. In Jus Sanguinis societies, men get their tribal (nation) identity simply from their father (Y-chromosome). This is consistent all through the Bible. The only issue is when the patrilineal men marry into matrilineal Canaanite tribes and lose their real tribal identity, becoming instead a "citizen" of a piece of dirt.
