A 17-year-old Italian girl is in critical condition after being struck by a boat carrying around 10 illegal Algerian migrants in Sardinia, Italy

The migrants realized that their boat had struck the girl but continued sailing rather than stopping.

She suffered multiple injuries and fractures and lost consciousness in the water. Reports said she was seriously injured by the boat's propeller.
Lifeguards rushed into the water, rescued her and brought her back to shore, where emergency crews treated her.

A medical helicopter landed on the beach and the teenager was intubated before being airlifted in critical condition to Brotzu Hospital in Cagliari.
