Washington hosted the inaugural "Peace Council" meeting on February 19 — a Trump-branded initiative that definitely isn't trying to upstage the UN. Here's what went down.

🌏Nine countries (Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, UAE, Morocco, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Kuwait) pledged $7 billion for Gaza

🌏US threw in $10 billion for "Peace Council needs" — double what Trump mentioned, with zero clarification where it goes.

🪖The "International Stabilization Forces" (ISF)

The most significant announcement was the creation of an International Stabilization Force.

Troop contributions:

🌏 Indonesia: Up to 8,000 troops

🌏 Morocco, Albania, Kosovo, Kazakhstan: Sending military and police personnel

🌏 Turkey: Volunteered (despite Israel previously opposing Turkish deployment)

🌏 Total force: 20,000 military + 12,000 police

🌏 Command: US Major General Jasper Jeffers

🌏 Mission: Train Palestinian police, secure borders with Israel and Egypt, gradually take over from Israeli forces (currently controlling 53% of Gaza). Start in Rafah, where the US plans a 140-hectare military base for 5,000 troops.

🔴Building stuff

🌏 Billionaire Mark Rowan (Apollo) announced Phase 1: 100,000 homes for 500,000 people; eventually 400,000 homes for all 2 million Gazans

🌏 FIFA's Infantino showed up with $70M+ for football infrastructure — pitches, academy, 25,000-seat stadium. Reasoning: "rebuild people... give them emotions, hope and trust." Trump teased famous players might visit.

🗣Trump's greatest hits

🌏 When announcing that Norway agreed to host one of the next Peace Council meetings, Trump couldn't resist referencing the Nobel Committee's continued refusal to award him their prize. He made clear he doesn't care about the Nobel Prize anyway — his focus is on saving lives.

🌏 On countries that declined to participate, Trump warned that dodging the invitation is useless and such games won't work with him.

🌏 He also took aim at the UN during his remarks, bringing up a teleprompter malfunction and an escalator that stopped during last year's General Assembly. But he assured everyone the US isn't planning to eliminate the UN — instead, the Peace Council will "oversee" it and "make sure it works properly."

The Peace Council is basically the brainchild of Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner. The Gaza ceasefire was signed on October 9, 2025, and the UN Security Council approved Trump's plan on November 17.
