Nonleague currency generation?

Hey guys, since the seasons kind of dried up I started wondering if there's any good way to farm currency to build some OG type of build in standard? I've never built anything there on purpose, I'm sure I have a hundred divine or more.

I've played 6-7 leagues total but have never broke into higher end Uber builds. I know things probably cost more there but you know.

The connection between POE lore and old science fiction

So, over the last year, I've been reading a lot of old fantasy with science fiction elements, because for some reason I'm drawn to older literature. One thing I've noticed is the some number of overlaps between certain elements and Path of Exile. For example, Gene Wolfe's "The Book of the New Sun" features the sword "Terminus Est," and I know that's a generic name, but there are also other elements that are somewhat reminiscent of the Path of Exile setting. Jack Vance's "The Dying Earth" series also has some elements (like the girl Scion and growing people in flasks/mechanisms), but I'm not really sure if I'm just imagining things. What do you think? Have you noticed anything similar?

Edith: I don't mean that's a bad thing. It's just always interesting to find parallels and learn about the author's specific inspirations

Earthshatter isn't dead!

Hi boys,

When the patch notes for Mirage dropped it had these changes,

* Earthshatter: Now has an Effectiveness of Added Damage of 158%-329% at gem levels 1-20 (previously 171%-393%).
* Autoexertion now has a Mana Reservation of 20% (previously 15%).
* Overexertion now grants Supported Attacks deal 7-10% more Damage for each Warcry Exerting them (previously 12-18%), and Supported Attacks deal 10-14% more Damage if Exerted (previously 10% at all gem levels). No longer displays as supporting Triggered Attack skills which cannot be Exerted, such as Shockwave Support.

I was a bit worried that my favourite skill would feel rubbish to play. So I started bleed slams, but I didn't enjoy it all that much and around Week 4 I rerolled to Earthshatter again, because I missed my warcrying hooligan.

So all that said, I think I’ve finally reached the final form of my Earthshatter Slayer, and I think it's the best Earthshatter build I've made as a Duelist.

POB: [https://pobb.in/6xGJnL4wIzYL](https://pobb.in/6xGJnL4wIzYL)

I know a lot of people wrote Earthshatter off after the nerfs, but honestly, I think the skill is still incredibly strong - I just think people are still building it with old assumptions.

After a ton of testing and iterations, the biggest shift for me was stopping chasing “maximum PoB DPS” and instead building around:

* uptime
* automation
* survivability
* smoothness
* and how the build actually feels in real gameplay

I don’t think my build is mechanically revolutionary or anything, but I do think the priorities are different to how most people still approach slams.

A few things I think are massively underrated with Earthshatter now:

* Slayer solves the real problem with slams, which is maintaining uptime and not falling over
* Consistent autoexert uptime matters more than giant one-hit screenshots
* Once your hit size gets high enough, Impale completely changes how the build feels
* Faster, more immediate damage feels WAY better than delayed “eventually huge” damage
* Smoothness and rhythm end up mattering more than another 5% PoB DPS

I also think a lot of people over-invest into either:

* pure tank or
* pure PoB damage

…instead of balancing around actual gameplay flow.

As a final upgrade I sacrificed some survivability to get 100% chance to Impale and it was absolutely worth it, things die really fast now. The build still has top-end EHP for Slayer, but now the damage feels instant instead of “ramping.”

Currently sitting at:

* Highest DPS Earthshatter Slayer on [poe.ninja](https://poe.ninja/poe1/builds/mirage/character/imanon-6723/KapteinSlayer?i=0&search=class%3DSlayer%26name%3Dkaptein)
* 5th highest EHP
* Full autoexert setup
* T17/Uber viable
* Minimal button bloat
* Battlemage's Cry to cast Vulnerability, and get Molten Shell on first hit - this is actually a really fun / useful interaction.

The funny thing is the build is actually stronger than the PoB suggests too, because Impale damage isn’t properly represented - with all the setup done properly (and conservatively) I think the build does around 55million DPS when 3 spikes overlap.

Honestly feels like one of those builds where there’s nothing meaningful left to solve anymore. Everything from here is basically vanity upgrades and hoping for a Mirror to go with my two locks I got this league.

Earthshatter definitely isn’t dead. I honestly think people just kept trying to build post-nerf Earthshatter like old-school slam builds instead of leaning fully into automation, uptime and practical gameplay feel.
