On July 10, 2024, record torrential rains struck the southern regions of Korea, resulting in the deaths of 4 people and 1 person reported missing.

Today, from early morning, the province of South Jeolla experienced the heaviest torrential rains. In Gunsan, located 178 kilometers south of Seoul, 131.7 mm of rainfall was recorded by 2:42 AM, marking the highest hourly rainfall officially recorded nationwide. This amount exceeds 10% of the city's average annual rainfall of 1,246 mm.

💦Heavy rains flooded a residential home in Nonsan around 3 AM, resulting in one person dying in a flooded elevator. Rescue teams recovered the body and are trying to establish the person's identity.

Around 4 AM in Socheon, a landslide caused a house to collapse, trapping a 70-year-old man under debris. He was transported to the hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead.

Another 70-year-old man died in Okcheon around 5 AM after his car was swept away by a strong current from an overflowing river.

All railway services on the Chanhwa Line in South Chungcheong Province and the Gyeongbuk Line in Gyeongsangbuk Province are suspended until 6:00 PM.
