🌈 In the Northern Hemisphere, the aurora borealis has once again extended beyond the Arctic Circle towards the equator.

🌈Tonight, on April 20, 2024, the aurora borealis was unusually red, caused by a magnetic storm, reaching 55 degrees north latitude. This anomalous natural phenomenon should concern scientists as it indicates a sudden change in the atmosphere.

‼️🇹🇷 On April 20, Turkey was hit by a powerful storm that caused destruction and chaos in several provinces. Hurricane-force gusts of wind reached 118 kilometers per hour, toppling trees in Istanbul and causing other damage, including collapsing roofs and damaging infrastructure.

☄️💦Heavy rains and storms affected 45 provinces, including Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Denizli, and Muğla. In the city of Çankırı, the wind destroyed the minaret of a mosque. In the Vezirköprü district in Samsun, a video captured the moment when a hurricane blew off a house's roof.

⚡️A powerful tornado was spotted on the coasts of Izmir and Marmaris. Fortunately, it dissipated without reaching land, but the storm continued to wreak havoc across Turkey. Emergency services are working to mitigate the aftermath of the storm and ensure residents' safety.

🟡 A massive "propeller" over the Arctic has gone haywire: the polar vortex is spinning in the opposite direction.

〽️ The main stream of circulating air, also known as the Arctic polar vortex, has completely changed its course and is now spinning in the opposite direction. As a result, winds are now blowing from the east, and scientists are trying to predict the potential impact this may have on Earth's climate system in the coming months.

〽️ In the summer months in the Northern Hemisphere, the winds circulating within the vortex slow down and begin to rotate eastward, clockwise around the Arctic. Meanwhile, in the winter months, there are reversals in the flow from west to east, which can have significant consequences for Earth's climate.

〽️ According to NOAA climate scientist Rebecca Lindsey, this winter we have observed far from typical stratospheric phenomena. Today, scientists are trying to understand the causes and consequences of such movement.

〽️ The polar vortex begins in the troposphere and extends into the stratosphere at an altitude of about 6–20 km above the planet's surface and can reach heights of about 50 km. Scientists note that much of Earth's weather actually depends on the troposphere below, however, extreme stratospheric winds reaching speeds of up to 250 km/h trap a pocket of cold air over the North Pole.

It is worth noting that this can lead to a sharp cooling at the planet's surface, but this does not always happen.

〽️A jump in ozone levels has already been observed over the Arctic. Scientists explain that the cause of the jump is a weaker polar vortex, causing more ozone to flow towards the poles and remain there. This surge became the most significant in March.

⚠️However, scientists believe that the consequences may manifest in the long term: the hotter the planet becomes, the more strangely the polar vortex may change.

#Geomagneticstorms #solarstorm #Sun #SolarFlare #Space #spaceweather #astronomy #SolarPhenomena #climate #destruction #anomaly
☀️🖥 Solar news for April 13, 2024

😊 April 21, 2024, was a relatively calm day for the Sun. The number of solar flares decreased, and they became less intense. The number of sunspots—areas on the Sun where the most active activity occurs—also decreased. Additionally, there were no coronal mass ejections (CMEs) that could be directed toward Earth.

😉Solar observatories and satellites that monitor the Sun also confirmed this trend. The overall activity of the Sun was low, indicating that the impact on space weather and Earth's geomagnetic field would be minimal today.

#UAE #Dubai #flood #flooding #storm #weather #climatecrisis #climatechange #climate #destruction #anomaly
‼️ 🇦🇪 This week, scenes from Dubai, UAE, seemed apocalyptic to residents who are more accustomed to the calm atmosphere of a sunny desert metropolis. The city hadn't experienced a natural disaster of this scale since weather records began.

💦The damage left by the flood became apparent only after the storm had subsided. The United Arab Emirates experienced the heaviest rainfall in at least 75 years. In just 24 hours, more rain fell than typically does in a whole year. Life in the gleaming tourist and financial center nearly came to a halt. The rain partially flooded the metro and the ground floors of buildings, and paralyzed ground transportation. Many cars were submerged in water up to their roofs.

🆘 As a result, many tourists were stranded at the airport and couldn't leave Dubai for two days.

⚠️ According to the weekly magazine "The Economist", the UAE authorities introduced a ban on the distribution of photo and video materials related to the aftermath of the flooding in Dubai. Violating the ban can lead to fines, with the amount depending on the number of materials, and can reach up to 1 million dirhams.

#Kazakhstan #flood #floodwaters #climate #destruction #anomaly
‼️ 💦 🇰🇿 A major flood that is gradually receding from Orenburg now threatens Uralsk in Kazakhstan. The water level in the Ural River has already exceeded the critical mark of 8.5 meters. The city's riverfront is completely submerged, and about 30 garden non-commercial associations (GNCA) are under water. Former dachas around Uralsk have long turned into a residential area where thousands of families live, and for many, it's their only home. Around six thousand residential homes in Kazakhstan are flooded, and the water level keeps rising.

🆘 Yesterday in Uralsk, a man was nearly swept away by a torrent of melting snow in front of other people, but he was saved in time. (April 22, 2024)

‼️ 🇹🇼 A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 occurred in the Philippine Sea near the coast of Taiwan early in the morning on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 2:26 a.m. local time (in the Asia/Taipei timezone, GMT +8).

🆘 The earthquake had a shallow depth of 10.7 km (7 miles) and was widely felt in the area. The shallow depth caused the earthquake to be felt more strongly near the epicenter compared to deeper earthquakes of the same magnitude. There are reports of two buildings collapsing.

➡️We remind readers that three weeks earlier, on April 3, 2024, at 7:58 a.m. Taipei time, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 was recorded in the Philippine Sea, 18 km south of the city of Hualien.

➡️The International Labour Organization (ILO) reports that over 70% of the world’s workforce faces climate-related risks, leading to hundreds of thousands of deaths annually. Workers, especially the poorest, are more susceptible to extreme climate events like heatwaves, droughts, and hurricanes due to prolonged and intense exposure.
According to the report, air pollution is the deadliest risk, causing approximately 860,000 work-related deaths annually, followed by heat-related deaths at 18,970 and UV radiation-related deaths from non-melanoma skin cancer at 18,960.
