🇩🇪 A Record Year for Lightning in Germany: Over 1.5 Million Strikes

⚡️⚡️In 2024, more than 1.5 million lightning strikes with a current of at least 5 kiloamperes (kA) were recorded over Germany — the highest number since 2018.

‼️ The highest lightning density was observed in Nuremberg, while the most powerful strike was registered on September 19 in the Waldeck-Frankenberg area (Hesse), with a current of approximately 452 kA, according to Nowcast.
