🌍 On the morning of February 15, 2025, an earthquake of magnitude 6.4 occurred in the Altai Republic. The epicenter was located 1.3 km southeast of the village of Stary Belyr in the Kosh-Agach district. Tremors were felt throughout the region, as well as in neighboring regions and countries.

Six settlements were damaged within a 50 km radius of the epicenter. As a result of seismic activity, a school in the village of Kupchegen in the Onguday district received minor damage.

Tremors were felt in the cities of Chemal, Maima, Gorno-Altaysk, Barnaul, as well as in Kemerovo and Novokuznetsk.

According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.8.
