On this Christmas Eve, I want to take a moment to describe the biggest RedPill of my life. While not "GOP v DNC" political, it further opened the eyes of a guy who had ALWAYS felt that there were pieces of "the story" missing about life, society, etc.
I was deployed for about 4 years straight, through every holiday. My first SF post was to 1/10 SFG(A), one of the 2 forward deployed SF battalions.
I was young, childless, unmarried, and more than happy to be on the move constantly- it was precisely what I signed up for.
Anyway, I got on deployment cycles that had me gone for every Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years/Valentines Day over and over again.
On about year 3 of this I was in Afghanistan (my 1st trip there. It was always my "white whale" - the reason that led me to the Army & Special Forces).
If you know much about SF, you know that we align & imbed fully with our local troops or guerillas. We will often live/eat/breath with our guys. A good Green Beret will "go native," and many SF guys have been initiated into the tribes of their local fighters throughout history.
If you look up some of the non-profts that Vietnam-era SF guys have started & dedicates their lives to IOT help the Montanyard people (who the USGOV screwed over royally), you'll gain better insight into this.
Anyway, I was deployed over the holiday cycle for years on end, and found myself in Afghanistan during the Christmas holidays - this must've been 2007-2008.
I noticed that as we started to receive care packages of Christmas gifts, our Afghans were exchanging gifts.
As Christian soldiers began praying and becoming more solemn for Christmas, our Afghans began doing thr same for Eid (their holidays at that time).
I grabbed a translator to have a convo with one of the leaders of our fighters.
Over a meal, I began to ask questions to dig further into their most solemn holidays- when they are, what they are, what they do.
After that convo I began to realize that all of the world's major religions- Christianity, Islam, Judaism - all have our most solemn holidays at the same time.
I began down the path of great religious study after leaving the Army, really trying to decipher what it was that led religions that had so much in common to shed so much of each others' blood over the centuries.
In the end, if you can take an unbiased approach and look closely, we have far more in common with those who we see as the most different than us than we've been led to believe.
At the end, we're all human, and many of us pray to our God, who really is not that different aside from the name that we call Him.
My RedPill was that understanding - that men had corrupted their access to and interpretation of God over the years, using an all loving and world creating diety in order to gain their own power amd lead men to slaughter each other.
This understanding led me to the ultimate RedPill, the "once you see it you can't unsee it" type of knowledge: hidden forces have worked very hard, for a very long time, to keep us fighting against each other, often over issues that are extremely trivial in the end.
Why would they do that?
Power, riches, fame?
It's more likely more simple than that. Imagine the power that the people of the world would yield if we ever set our differences aside and took a good, hard look at who/what has been dividing us through all of human history.
It could be a very different world. And there are powerful people that are terrified of that thought, because the ire of billions would be focused solely on them.

We can call it “This Is What Democracy Looks Like.”
The winning team receives free relocation and shipment of household goods to Ukraine.
