When people are ignorant and they are arrogant, life (the universe or the spiritual hierarchy) has a brutal way of making you humble. First is the lost of your money. Second is the lost of your reputation/image or self-esteem. And third is lost in relationships.
There will be different losses for different people. But these arrogant and ignorant people do finally learn their lessons, the hard way of course. Through the most pain and suffering possible.
