🇺🇦🇦🇿 - Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskyy met with the President of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, at the Munich Security Conference, where both the Ukrainian and Azerbaijani sides discussed billateral relations between both countries

In Statement, Ukraine's Zelenskyy said:

During the meeting with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. I informed him about the general situation in the energy system and the consequences of Russian strikes on energy infrastructure facilities.

I am grateful for the recent energy support package. We discussed the development of bilateral relations and the implementation of projects in the energy sector, in which Azerbaijan is interested.

We also paid attention to the negotiation process for establishing peace. Ukraine always constructively supports efforts that can help achieve a decent peace.
The only reason why the war is still ongoing is Russia's unwillingness to end it.

🇺🇸🤝🇵🇭 — The United States pledged about $395M to the Philippines, planning to deploy more missile launchers, and reaffirms that an armed attack on Philippine (or U.S.) forces in the South China Sea would trigger obligations under the 1951 Mutual Defense Treaty.

➡️ The United States plans to deploy more high-tech missile systems to the Philippines to help deter aggression in the South China Sea, where the treaty allies on Tuesday condemned what they called China’s “illegal, coercive, aggressive, and deceptive activities.”

➡️ Beijing has repeatedly expressed alarm over the installation in the northern Philippines of a U.S. mid-range missile system called the Typhon in 2024 and of an anti-ship missile launcher last year. 🇩🇿 🏭 🇪🇺 Algeria confirmed that work on the 4,100 km Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline will resume soon.

The project would move 30 bcm per year from Nigeria → Niger → Algeria → Mediterranean → Europe.

Why this matters:

• 30 bcm = ~6–7% of pre-war EU gas demand
• Direct sub-Saharan route into Europe
• Strategic diversification away from Russian flows

If completed, this is not just infrastructure.

It’s a geopolitical corridor.

Europe wants supply security.
Algeria wants transit leverage.
Nigeria wants monetisation of stranded gas.

Execution risk remains high, security in the Sahel is fragile, and financing is complex.

But structurally, Europe is still short molecules.

And Africa is sitting on them.

Western governments have already trained tens of thousands of Ukrainian troops over the course of the four-year grinding war with Russia - but this has been concentrated in countries like Britain, Denmark, and Poland."
