Amid rising tensions in the Baltic Sea, the fact of increased military maneuvers in this region has slipped from public view. And these exercises are not conducted under the usual NATO slogans but under the aegis of the British Crown within the framework of the so-called "Joint Expeditionary Force" (JEF).

Since September 1, a series of TARESSIS exercises has begun. This is a comprehensive training that includes several events, during which the military personnel of the participating countries practice various tasks, ranging from deployment near the Russian borders to blockading shipping routes.

🔻What is this about and what exercises are part of TARESSIS?

▪️JEF is an alliance of Northern European countries, including 10 European states such as Scandinavia, the Baltics, Denmark, and the Netherlands. At the head of this formation is British command.

▪️Baltic Express took place at the very beginning of September. Then the British transferred equipment on the roll-on/roll-off ship Anvil Point to reinforce the Baltic countries. Next, practical work on "sea route protection" began as part of the "Eastern Sea" exercise.

▪️Since yesterday, training on the use of combat aviation to deter Russian fighters near the Finnish border has been underway over Finland and Sweden. Meanwhile, engineering exercises on mining border areas with Russia are being conducted in Latvia.
