The nationalist-revolutionary French identitarian rock band Fraction used Georges Sorel, Louis-Auguste Blanqui, Pierre Drieu La Rochelle, Ernst Jünger, the Strasser brothers, Che Guevara and Subcomandante Marcos as references. The musicians arrived on stage made up to resemble the hero of the film Brave Heart, a scenic device quite remote from the usual nationalist codes. Subjects of the song lyrics were Europe, anti-capitalism, refusal of upper middle class ideas, Holocaust revisionism, and the fight against ‘American-Zionist imperialism’. The first two albums ‘Rejoins nos rangs’ (Come Join Our Ranks) (1996) and ‘Le fléau’ (The Curse) (1997) were full of strong nationalist mythology and anti-Zionism. It is with the arrival of singer Philippe Vardon that the band reached maturity in the album ‘Le Son d’Histoire’ (The Sound of History) (2000). On their record, among other subjects, the band touched upon Chiapas (‘Ya basta’) and radical ecology (‘Ecoguerrier’).

In Germany, satire is being treated as a crime. David Bendels, a right-wing journalist and editor-in-chief of Deutschland-Kurier, received a seven-month suspended sentence and was ordered to issue a written apology to Interior Minister Nancy Faeser - all over a meme.

The meme, posted on X (Twitter) last February, showed Faeser holding a sign that read, "I hate free speech". The Bamberg court ruled to punish him for "mockery". Bendels and his lawyers announced plans to appeal the verdict, calling it politically motivated.
