In 1980, Belgian National Socialists were deported after the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith alerted the U.S. State Department to their presence and asked that their visas be revoked. ADL had informed Secretary of State Edmund Muskie that Armand Eriksson, head of the Flemish-Vlaamse Militanten Orde (VMO), and his associate, Roger Spinnewijn, would be speakers at the National States Rights Party conference. In a telegram to Muskie, Justin J. Finger, ADL’s civil rights director, noted that the VMO is the organization which annually plays host to meetings in Belgium of European nationalist groups, including the French organization which took credit for the 1980 synagogue bombing in Paris.
