The idea is simple. You pick between two players and whoever scores more FPL points in the upcoming GW wins the duel. Get it right and your rating goes up, get it wrong and it drops. The bigger the differential, meaning the less popular pick, the more you gain if you nail it. All of this feeds into an overall leaderboard.

What I like is that a GW is not decided by one or two 50/50 calls but lots of smaller decisions. Over time good judgement shows through with less of the one random moment ruined my week feeling.

You can also check where the crowd leans on those borderline calls like who to start, who to bench, and which punt the community actually fancies.

It was a close call between Anderson or Ndiaye to fund Bruno. I also have the option to move Tavernier to whichever one I didn’t buy later, with £0.1m spare. I went with Ndiaye because it’s unlikely Anderson is on penalties, their xMins are similar and in the unlikely scenario that Chelsea beat Arsenal in the EFL Cup semi final, Ndiaye would double. Ndiaye is on penalties, has a higher ceiling and still projects just as well even if he doesn’t double.

Bruno captain over Haaland. I’m backing the data model projections.

Small green. Ndiaye over Anderson -5 point swing hurts, so does Mukiele continually outscoring Alderete. Kroupi jam and a great rank at this stage, so can’t complain. Contemplating TC GW26 and hoping to roll.

This week was tough. I went back and forth between Saka → Rice or Saka and Alderete → Sarr or Amad, Timber.

In the end, the Rice move felt more secure. It saves a free transfer, keeps more money in the bank and offers safer xMins. The alternative carried more uncertainty, with Timber’s xMin doubts and Sarr’s penalty share still unconfirmed. I was very tempted, but I do have slight xMin concerns for Timber around this GW and GW29/30.

I also really dislike going down to 0 free transfers, especially with a double gameweek on the horizon and Blank GW31 coming up. Free transfer value feels high right now. Sometimes boring is optimal.
